For interested nostalgics like me I just compiled Bash 2.03 on sunos 4.1.4 without gcc I tried versions 2.02, 2.04 and 3.016 these fail, so it is a very narrow path. Thanks for making this video

Great stuff man, I watched this one in the background, it's almost therapeutic! I'm still holding on for more VMS stuff and an update on that rx1620. The Sun stuff is just as interesting though!

So were you using NIS here? Or did you not install it and only entered ftp.gnu.org in /etc/hosts? Trying to replicate what you did here

What compiler are you using is it an AT&T C++ compiler, The DEC VAX 750S running VMS should be a really brilliant system is it the top of the range system and if so does it have to be kept in a room where the temperature has to be below 50 degrees below zero degrees. you should be able to compile GCC with the AT&T C++, have you tried the Compaq C V6.4 would that work for you am I barking up the wrong tree.

I recently took a job working in a Linux environment as a sysadmin. I've been a BSD guy since high school. Its very painful. GNU*SLASH*Linux does a lot of thing extremely wrong.
