Hello everyone! I am so happy this video is doing so well. If you’re here and you’re interested in this topic please subscribe and comment! I will be uploading new videos in the next month. I had an issue with my computer it’s not processing premiere pro properly, so I was saving for a new one. It arrives mid April and I’ll work hard to get more of these videos out for you, I’ve loved the support so far. As of right now I don’t get paid or make any money at all from these videos as my channel is not monetized, I see this video has ads, I don’t profit from those until my channel meets the requirements to be monetized. Once I reach 1k subscribers and 4k watch hours I can start monetizing my channel. Thank you so much for all the comments and love, I hope to see you around here again! Also, leave questions and ideas for new videos so I can answer your doubts ! Thank you! ❤️

It's nice to know that a lot of us naturally gravitate towards the colours that suits us. No one wants to look ghastly. I remember, when I met one of my teachers in middle school, she talked about the four season theory, and pointed to me as example of a true winter. I wasn't paying attention back then, and was confused because I am born in winter lol, and didn't catch the drift of the conversation. (I was wearing head to toe in navy)
@MikaelaCarrizo
@MikaelaCarrizo 2 жыл бұрын
Amaaazing! I always say that, people have a natural instinct on what colors suit them best. If you have doubts if you're warm/cool I always suggest to look at the colors you have in your closet. What clothes do you wear the most? What clothes don't you wear ever? I am a dark winter myself, I remember buying a yellow sweater once, I really love the color yellow, but for "some reason" I never wore it, everytime I put it on I would take it off and put something else on last minute. The same happened with a gorgeous little yellow dress I got, I never wore it, not even once! A few years later, learning about color theory I realized that of course I didn't like "something" about those items. It was the color all along!! Navy is one of my favorite colors to wear as a dark winter! If you're a true winter, navy is amazing too. Also try french blue, emerald green and hot pink :)

Although, I noticed that I didn't naturally gravitate towards wearing my true colors until I was out of my teens Or I at least disregarded that instinct, by wearing the colors that were in style during my teens. Well, that was the eighties and of course NEON was the dominate IN color then. At least army green was also in, which suited me better.

Some winters can wear sunflower yellow, @margaritanoir. I am a clear bright winter so the only yellows I can wear are citron-acid yellow and neon yellow. Sunflower yellow is too gold-yellow for me, and makes me appear sallow and ill.

For those of you confused I watched the video 2x and I think I got it 😉 Basically see what you notice first about yourself. Is it your hair and eyes aka value, or is it the hue AKA warm or cool. Depending on what you notice first your season will vary. YOUR PRIMARY/ DOMINANT CHARACTERISTIC + YOUR SECONDARY CHARACTERISTIC = YOUR SEASONAL COLOR For example: 1: I first noticed that my hair was darker than my skin. Aka I have a dark value. So that is my primary/dominant characteristic. 2: I realized that my skin had warm undertones aka my hue. 3: when I looked at the chart it shows that DARK +. WARM = DARK Autumn for my seasonal color I HOPE THIS HELPS ☺️

Me too :) I hadn’t liked the Pinterest collages of my color palette so I restarted the entire process again (re-draped more professionally at-home myself), and came back to the same Deep/Dark Autumn result. I gotta make ‘mends with my coloring. I just really prefer saturated, high contrast in lieu of Autumn muted colors. They’re so dull to me 😂😅❤️ *Update, I can do a bit more vivid colors & I feel that’s really what I wanted. :) Deep orange, deep red, and rich brown colors really suit me well.

@@rafioled8997 By the sounds of it so far though, it sounds like you’re a Deep Autumn going into Winter (me too + I relate to the 3 descriptions you gave lol). I swear I must be SO neutral that I can't make up my mind what is even dominant about my face. At first I thought I must be bright, but then I thought maybe I was desaturated.... I can't even decide if my eyes are blue or green and whether my hair is golden brown or dark ash blonde. I always thought I was cool toned and joked about being pasty white, but I know I'm not literally the color of milk. I can wear bright summery colors (cool pink and orange) but I also like wearing warmer muted tones (pumpkin orange and teal) and soft pastels (although I think beige and white washes me out). Also fashion can be subjective enough that I can't always tell the difference between "looking washed out" and "serving a look"... Anyway it messes with my head sometimes.

Maybe a tip (looking back it would have helped me). Take a look at the colors in your closet (or only the ones you wear/look good on you) and then choose one of the seasonal color analysis palettes that corresponds the best with it. In my case looking back I had my personal colors laying in my closet and was struggling while I didn’t have to. I also did this for my sister and that also was correct for her. (Im a soft autumn and my sister is a light summer)

@Cuzthisgirljustfell most of the seasons have a lot of color in their palettes but it’s for instance for soft autumn a muted warm version of the colors etc. I would say look up the palettes of both those seasons and ask yourself which of the palettes look better on you based on the colors in it if you can’t choose ask a good friend or family member or multiple ones

I'm a fair olive soft summer(asian) with very deep hair. If I wear dark colors, it makes me look tired and sick. So I have to dye my hair soft brown black for that matter. Thank you this is a video that confirmed a lot for me. I always knew that I looked better in bright colors but wasn’t sure where I fell on the scale. I believe I am a true spring or bright spring as colors such as pinks, yellow, orange, bright green‘s, bright blue‘s, certain shades of white/cream and true red look great on me, but certain shades of tan, gray/silver and black make me look dreary. It took me a long time to realize this however being from the metro NY area everyone gravitates towards black and gray scale except in summer.

The thing is, skin color tans especially for fair to tan brown skin, which means we'll get darker or warmer. I'm currently tanned, as I used to be neutral to warm undertone and light medium in skin. Now there's more yellow and peach in my tan skin. So I guess we'll have to adapt with the chart.

I’m the same in my case it depends on my skin color depending in the season. In winter I’m more pale and can use winter colors with more ease. People say it doesn’t matter but of course it does because tan decreases contrast and some of us get a golden tone with sun. People have told me I look amazing in warm intense colors and also in black and deep blue. For me contrast is king, I know I look awful in pastels though. I’ve always thought this color system was a bit Eurocentric, especially once you get to the eye color chart. Asians have a different analysis system that uses the PCCS color chart that’s more inclusive of everyone, including POC.
@MikaelaCarrizo
@MikaelaCarrizo Жыл бұрын
I agree with you! It’s hard because with POC and asian ethnicity the features will always be dark hair. So in those cases 12 seasons still applies, but we have to sometimes ignore the CONTRAST and focus on the VALUE. So if your features are dark compared to people from your ethnicity. 12 season still works for POC and asians BUT features will change slightly (especially with hair color) although the over all appearance will be true to the season coloring. This is because this theory is based on natural colors and made up categories. It’s based on the depiction of each season’s natural colors in nature at a certain time during the seasons changes. You will be surprised how much of our colors are due to the environments and natural surroundings that we come from.

@@MikaelaCarrizo So what you mean is asians like me, emphasize and add color value on our facial features. Is it possible to combine the (primary) Value with chroma?

If you're taking requests, I wondering if you could talk about how changing your hair colour can affect your colour season? Like in my case, I'm naturally pale, with blue eyes and dark brown hair. Which made me automatically think bright winter... (I tend to favour silver jewellery tho my skin is pretty neutral.) But I've always natural had caramel hightlighs in the summer, and often in photos there'd appear to be a reddish tint to my hair. I've been dying my hair red for a while now, and it really adds life to my features and flatters me - much more than my natural brown does imo. So I'm really confused😂 Am I just deluding myself about not being a bright winter, or could I be a bright spring (or somewhere in the middle between bright winter and bright spring)?

Same! My hair skews more warm as well though as it picks up a lot of red in light. I’ve found I can borrow some colors from soft autumn as well as using “my” soft summer colors. As long as I stay away from the extreme ends of the color spectrum those seasons colors look good on me. For example I can wear an olive green, but not anything near yellow or orange in autumn colors.

Yeah I hear you. I think many of us who are fair can fall on either side of spring/summer. I was usually told I was a "spring" & the "warm spring" colors do look best on me. But if I get my makeup done the MUA will say I'm neutral without any strong undertones. It's 50/50 coinflip whether they use warm or cool shades. If I didn't highlight my hair or go in the sunshine, I might look like that "light summer" lady.

@@LibertyIndiaRose I don't think I've really settled on one of the two (it's okay to not fit a box imo). But I've figured out that colors that are just slightly muted look better on me than very bright ones (for example a very dark brown/grey instead of black (at least around and on my face)). And also I mostly wear colors that are not extremly warm or cool. Like greens and purples or yellow. All of those are in between because if you add the tiniest amounts of cyan/blue or magenta/red respectively it changes to warm or cool tones. And all of those look good on me. The only one that looks really bad on me is orange for some reason (and I'm personally not a big fan of blue). So maybe that makes me more of a dark autumn? Still not sure cause I can definitely wear silver jewerly and certain blues or cool toned purples. But I'm fine with it, I mostly wear black, brown, grey, and green anyway. And for makeup a muted dark purple really brings out the green in my hazel eyes so I love that (you could try playing with contrast, like if you prefer high or low contrasting features on you or like somewhere in the middle). It's like a super power tbh cause I've dyed my hair every color of the rainbow and almost none looked bad (others even said that the ones I hated were totally fine) which is lucky :) I hope you figure your season out though! But I think it's totally fine to just take parts of seasons and look what works for you. Imo it also makes a huge different where on your body you wear which color. Like some I only like on my nails, some only as hair color, some for clothing and some I just avoid. (Sorry for the lengthy reply)

Hello! If you have changed your hair color it doesn't change your general season it just might add or eliminate certain colors of that season and the same goes for greying hair, you do have to analize what colors go well with you personally one by one, but the general rules will apply for each season! Although I do not work as a color analyst I studied the color seasons in an image consulting certification in Argentina, plus many books that I read of experts in the field. Thank you so much for your comment and feed back! It's a LOT of information, it's really not meant for a short video, it was pretty challenging to summarize it this way, but I wanted to do a general 12 season video. I don't really feel like I fit into any of the types because my eyes are dark (and relatively saturated) blue-green, my hair naturally has an ashy base color but naturally turns golden blonde in the sun, and my skin is very very pink. No yellow at all in my skin. So I have characteristics of both spring and summer. I'm not just one undertone. My eyes and hair are just dark enough that I can get away with darker colors, and deep emerald green is my power color. But I'm not muted; I look terrible in muted colors. I'm not 'dark' even though my eyes are dark-ish for my coloring. I do feel like "summer" colors--light and cool--suit me best. Pale blues, cool greens, soft pinks, bright white. Autumn colors in particular make me look very dead. So maybe my coloring is my dominant characteristic. But it's hard to say.

An important nuance: most of the ladies one sees as examples of seasons have dyed hair. The seasons with their natural hair colour look way different. An example would be Scarlett Johansson, who is a light spring. Just google young Scarlett Johansson, and you will see how dark her hair is in comparison to her more adult look. Still, she is a warm, light type. I found out experientially that hair colour is the least important feature when determining the season. Skin untertone and whether one is light or dark is the most important.
