I'm sure whatever is wrong with the front end will be obvious once it's jacked up and can be properly inspected. Frankly it seems pointless to speculate about that. That restart problem has me concerned though; classic symptom of a weak fuel pump if it is suddenly flaking out when immersed in cold fuel. You knocked it out of the park with this car though. That interior alone could justify several thousands in mechanical repairs and still make economic sense. Can't wait for the next vid!

I had a similar issue with my 1991 MBZ 420sel......the bearing came off and the wheel fell off the front left. Had someone fix it....he over tightened the bearing....drove from San Francisco to Los Angeles. The wheel got so hot....when it warmed up the car came to a complete stop without touching the brakes. Steam/smoke was coming out the wheel. Ended up having to replace the spindle because the bearing melted onto the spindle. I don't know why he didn't know not to over tighten the bearings. I have 248,000 miles on it and it is still going. Its been an amazing car. I bought it with 75,000 miles. The transmission lasted to 212,000 miles before I had it rebuilt by a Mercedes Mechanic. Same engine... Its my baby.

Love it! To me, the 126 is the most beautiful S class ever build. I can never decide if I like the W126 sedan or the C126 coupé more, they are just each perfect in their own way. With the interior in such good condition, I think this one is definitely worth fixing. And with your low entry price, even if you need to invest quite a bit in the mechanics, you'll still do well overall.

Its a car that should have toe-in, but yours has toe-out! The noise is the tyres literally fighting each other.. Its possible thats why it was at salvage, maybe the previous owner hit a kerb hard & bent a tie rod? Whatever it is, you need to check the steering, & then get an alignment.

It's time for a front suspension/steering inspection! Maybe it's the idler arm, outer tie rod ends, inner tie rod ends, lower ball joint, wheel bearings, front right spindle cracked? Those darn huge fork lift CATS have a way of breaking stuff moving the cars on the lot. IDK Mike, but your expert troubleshooting skill sets will determine exactly what the cause of the front right screaming tire is!!! That MB is in great condition, it just needs some items fixed.

Had a similar steering issue on a Vauxhall Omega (Cadillac Catera for the Colonialists)... Worn/failed* control arm bushes which cause the arms to move as the car reacts to the road/steering inputs making the geometry constantly variable. Also it looks like the track rods aren't even side to side... Too much toe out on both sides or on one side... Should be very slightly toe in on a rwd car... Coupled with the worn bushes the car will drive like a turd even if it rides ok. Another thing to check as a matter of urgency is that the lock nuts on the track rod adjusters haven't backed off... If they have it will allow the adjusters to self adjust and potentially undo themselves. *The bushes can be trashed if the bolts to the subframe are tightened without the cars weight on the wheels. Given the way the rest of the car looks to have been maintained, it's possibly a stupid oversight rather than something catastrophic... Worst case an overhaul of the control arms and track rods and a decent alignment will see it sorted.

I'd be more concerned about the oil pressure dipping so much. I have a 1985 420SEC. hey say you don't want that pressure to fall be "2" on the gauge. When mine is at temp and at idle, it might fluctuate between 2.5 and 3 but never below 2.5. When I'm about 1200 RPM its pegged at 3. Your engine temp reads lower than mine. You won;t lose money at $750...heck the seats are probably worth about that. Other than that, you have some projects ahead of you. good luck and I enjoy the content.
