I've worked with pressured tanks for welding and for purging certain military hardware with nitrogen. The Tanks are brass heads so the metal is soft. You don't haft to craft the bejesus out of them to keep them from leaking. If you think it might be leaking or not tight enough just use some soap and water mixture to test the connections. If it blows bubbles its leaking. Close the tank valve and remove the pressure regulator. Inspect the mating surfaces and ensure they are shaped similarly as in angles of the fittings and tank heads mating surfaces. Also check for dirt and debris and any possible dents cuts to those surfaces. Then reassemble and test for leaks. A little past snug is usually enough. If you over tighten then you can strip the brass fittings. Also make sure your regulators valves are set to closed before you mount it to the tank and before you open the tanks valve. Otherwise you are good to go. The soap and water is always a good way to test to leaks.

I used to tighten the regulator quite tightly cos i'm afraid that the regulator will fly off from the tank if not tightened tight enough

Thanks for your feedback. You're right you do not need to do that so hard. However we've seen issues many times with clients when the regulator with the extended parts like valve, splitters simply twisted by the weight of the equipment and the gas is released from the cylinder. 👍

I loved what happened at the beginning, when the co2 regulator could not be connected to the cylinder. It reminded me that it usually happens and you are left with a mixture of impotence, anger, since you invested in something good and it does not work. He was lucky to have another cylinder, but we don't have that. Good video.

I like these kind of videos! please do more! But I would like to say that the hose before the solenoid should be as short as possible. If the solenoid is closed co2 will build up in this part of hose until working pressure is met. If the solenoid opens the pressure is released and it gives a burst of co2. That is not necessarily a problem but it can make the hose pop off the glassware or empty the bubble counter faster then you would like...
@GreenAquaShop

That's right if someone uses a hose for the connection that should be the shortest as possible.

I use the Neo CO2 on my Fluval Spec III. Works perfectly and it’s running all the time. Also very budget friendly. The media that the yeast feeds off of lasts a very long time. You’ll actually run out of yeast before the media. So what I did was buy a jar of yeast at the grocery store and use that. A single NEO CO2 bottle has lasted me almost 8 months and I still have enough to stretch it longer. Not bad for $20 here in the states.

Im not sure this is necessary. CO2 dilutes very well in water. It also dissipates quite easily into the air if there is too much water movement.
@GreenAquaShop
@GreenAquaShop 2 жыл бұрын
Make sure you have enough flow. Better to put the diffuser to the lower part of the aquarium, so the gas travels more before reaching the surface and has more chance to mix with the water. With a CO2 reactor this is a non existent issue. So if you're after a more efficient method i do recommend that.

I am getting a 75 gallon tank set up. I noticed what looks like dragon stone in a flower bed in front of my new house. The guy who lived here before me had a tank, and when he died, I think they just dumped all the stones there. After digging around, I found a nice pile of similar stones, along with what looks like elephant skin stones. As I kept digging around, I ended up finding a ton of red and orange smoother rocks, with a couple black one, and a couple white ones. I'm gonna clean them up, and go from there. I don't think I'm going to have to buy rocks, just substrate and top dressing.

Question/s Doesn't the bubble counter also act as a check valve as well? For the recommended Co2 bubble per second.. doesnt it depend on the size of the tank and how dense it is planted? Now, im thinking im using too much Co2 on my 60p with 2 to 3 bubbles/sec.

The amount of bubbles needed for an aquarium depends on the carbonate hardness (KH) and the pH level. The lower degree of carbonate hardness it means the less bubbles are needed to achieve the optimal pH of 6.6-6.8

Dear Balazs, as always your YT channel is up to date and very neat! There is a small issue with my CO2 injection system, and I would like your professional advice. Unfortunately, here the water is hard, around 13-15GH. My PH is 7.6 and I realized after some time that if I want a PH drop point before the lights kick in, then I have to, not only have 2 hours before the injection to start, but also more than 3,5b/s which is kind of stressful to me 😅, and not to the inhabitants (yet) (15 days ish). Do you believe that the only solution seems to be the RO system, and then re-mineralize the water? Thank you in advance! Keep providing us with such professional tutorials! 😊

Hi! My opinion is that a solenoid valve is needed if in aquarium set pH controller. pH The controller turns ON the solenoid valve when the pH rises and turns it OFF when the pH reaches the desired level. In this case, the amount of CO2 supplied must be slightly higher than normal in order to ensure pH control by the solenoid valve. There are several questions. 1. What is your opinion about this application of the pH controller? 2. Have you used pH controllers? 3. What type of co2 reactor do you recommend: static (JBL Pro flora or Dennerle Flipper) or active with impeller (ISTA)?
@GreenAquaShop
@GreenAquaShop 2 жыл бұрын
1. controllers are great for a certain use. we use them mainly for larger aquariums 2. yup they are great 3. would go for another. like the one we use aqua care, aqua medic. the ones you listed isn't the best one for the task

Good morning, I've been battling Black Brush Algae and Green Beard Algae lately. I have a 250l aquarium with a jbl e1902 external filter and Aqua Medic CO2 Reactor 1000, skimmer, lily pipe through the back of the aquarium (closed top aquarium) and flow pump (left side at front, angled 45° downwards (the water of the lily pipe go to the flow pump to distributed the water from the lily pipe nicely)) . (The soil is ada amazonia) Currently I dose +- 80 bubbles (measured with the BLAU Glass Spiral CO2 Bubble Counter) or +- 63 bubbles (measured with the SEAAN bubble counter (makes slightly larger bubbles)) per min. The co2 starts 1 hour before the light comes on and stops 15 min before the light goes out. The light is on for 7 hours a day. (ph:7.1, EC:300, tds:160, temp:22, no3: ( 0-10 ), No2: (0-1)) The aquarium does not take direct sunlight. Can you help me or give me some tips? Thank you in advance!

These algae types are there for maintenance reason and flow issues. If the substrate gets too much disturbance and the substrate is not covered fully with plants it will lead to algae. So make sure to check the flow and the direction first.

@idk70six
@idk70six 2 жыл бұрын
There is never an exact answer for this question. I use a 45P and do about 5+ bubbles per second. it sounds like a lot but it always depends on how heavily planted your tank is and other factors. If you have fauna, pay attention to their behavior, get a co2 indicator if you don't have one already and keep good aeration/surface movement so fish don't suffocate from too little air. I used to do 1-2 bubbles per second but with experimenting and having a lot of plants I can get away with pumping more co2 for exponential plant growth!

With most bubble counter this will be around 3bps+ I would start there and slowly fine tuning til i reach the perfect spot. Depend on many factors how effective your system is.

Hi good watch. But would like some feed back on what system to get. As a new to co2 . I'm looking at the aquario blue professional set up with the computer. It's this a good make and good to start out with or should I start with out the ph computer . Some feed back on this would be helpful. Thank you 😊

I have my tank in my bedroom where I turn the AC on at night. Would pressurised co2 cylinder be affected by a drop of around 8 degrees at night. The gas contracts and expands like you said in earlier videos.

Hi there, thanks for the beautiful world of aquascapeing. My question is: Why do you need to turn off the co2 during the night? Why change the PH (fishwise). At least here in Bulgaria co2 is readily available and cheep. I would prefer to keep constant conditions (like PH) for my fish.

Hello! I really enjoy all your video guys. I have a quick question. Is it good or bad to place the Co2 diffuser just next to the suction pipe of my external filter? I'm thinking like this the Co2 has more time to dissolve in the water before being injected back to the tank via the outlet pipe. But maybe the Co2 concentration will be too high for my beneficial bacteria inside my external filter. What are your thought about it ?

hello and thanks for what you do. there are discussions about what plants prefer, CO2 gas (diffuser) or dissolved (reactor). what is your opinion thank you and keep up the good work

Excellent video 🙏 Can you tell me pls from your experience - how many bps for 120p? And how much earlier do you start CO2 before the lights go on? Thank you 🙏

Does the co2 bubbles need to be blowing around the tank or is it fine just going up the surface? What I did was put the diffuser directly infront of the outflow to spread the bubbles across the tank.

Not really. But there are some numbers you can start with in general.

Hi, great video. 👏👏 what you think it's better for injection of CO2 in aquarium, a diffuser like what you use in the video that is inside of aquarium or one mounted on the filter hose like JBL pro flora taifun inline? Its an aquarium with 300L. Thanks

Great video as always Green Aqua! Quick question; should it really matter if I keep my diffuser on the opposite side of my output so that Co2 gets properly circulated around my tank?

Not that much, but it is worth to try. These days we usually put these diffusers in a place where is is not that visible. 😀
