I loved following this. Sarah is my favorite color analyst to follow. The way she slowly goes through everything and explains what her eye sees is so educational. It was so clear that when she finally arrived at the cool winter colors those looked best on her. Next best was the dark winter which makes sense cause it’s next to it. It was also obvious that the cool summer was the best sister season out of the 3. Color analysis is so fascinating and really works!

Definitely cool winter from just the first fuchsia swatch 😄 by the way,if you take suggestions I’d love to see a video about just yellow colour , it is so hard to tell on yellow if it’s for example bright spring shade or bright winter and specifically which subgroup in the same season a certain shade of yellow belongs to and there is so little resources to look through cause not many people actually wear yellow even celebrities and if there is a yellow in shops there is only one shade with not much to compare to.

This is SO helpful to me personally, because your coloring is very similar to mine, esp the freckles, which I feel make my skin look sickly orange in winter and bright whites. This is helping me not to second-guess my otherwise obviously winter season. Thank you!

This reminds me of when I worked for multinational makeup company. A woman came in looking for a lipstick to go with her orange jumper. After trying a variety of warm complimentary to orange lipsticks I had to tell her she had cool tone colouring and should never have bought an orange jumper. She could see the lipsticks didn't suit her but hadn't seen the same thing in clothes.

💕Lovely Sarah! 💕🥰Thank you for this great video. I must say it was when I had my professional analysis done that I actually LEARNED and understood what to look for! That was such a huge difference in my mind! All these years I looked for the wrong things and missed out on the right things a colour should bring out- being a brunette it can be so easy to dive into the browns and golds because our hair and eyes are brown. But I just dissapeared in the sea of brown😵‍💫😶‍🌫️😶‍🌫️ I also had a very strict picture in my mind of what a winter is, a very neon-bright-contrasted person. I am a cool winter, a palette I didn’t even know exists, but that suits me SO PERFECTLY. The ”warmth” everyone (especially hairdressers) are stressing every spring and summer is not for everyone. I look much healthier now in cool colors then with warmth brought into my hair, makeup and clothes to ”warm me up”. It is nothing wrong with being cool😂 I can even see this on other people now.

Very helpful, thorough and professional. Thank you. I have liked seeing in previous videos that your make-up is subtle: I think there's a myth that Winters have to wear all the brightest colours all the time. First of all, thank your for these videos, they are very helpful and informative. I for sure see a difference in the different colors, you look brighter and healthier in cool colors. I have a question regarding color theory. I have had an in-person and a virtuel analysis done (I had the virtuel one done because I did not see the changes in my skin in the physical one and it also did not match everything I had "learned" online from these videos). The in-person one concluded that I was a soft summer (but I do not have much muted and grey coloring), the virtuel one concluded that I was a light spring (which I believe in more). In the in-person session I also thought the cool colors actually made me look tired, but the consultant said they looked the best. My skin is light but has a yellow tone to it, my hair is a warm honey blond and I have blue eyes. I notice that in warm colors I also look more golden, so it "matches" me better, but in these videos, color consultants say that they do not want to see that yellowness in the skin, so now I am confused whether that goldenness is good or bad. Also, I find that cool colors remove color from my face but not necessarily in a bad way since I do not always want to bring out the warmth in my skin. Interestingly, I receive more compliments when wearing bright and slightly cool colors (like a blue-green and hot (cool) pink - which are both, I believe, winter colors). I also look better (in my opinion in a bright lip color and cool makeup makes me look older and tired in my face. This is why I am so confused about my color season although I do believe that I am either spring or summer, I just do not know which one. Here comes my question. Is the warmth that I see in my face favoring the spring season or does it mean that I am cool and that the warmth is simply reflected on my skin? Cool colors steal some of my coloring, but at least I do not look yellow in them. Love from Denmark :)

Hello, 7 months later. you maybe misheard the colour analyst (Sarah Ryan is a winter type). She does not want to bring out the _sallowness_ in her skin. (Not yellowness). If a (white) person has a cool undertone also with a bit of grey than all yellow based colours make them look sickly. If I wear beige I almost look like I have jaundice. You have more than common yellow melanin in your skin (if you really are a spring type). If you wear yellow based colours it brings out that golden hue - and it looks good. So the in person analyst said that the cool colours looked better on you even though they make you look tired ?? !! That is a contradiction in itself. I assume her eye and perception is not very well trained. From your description (warm honey blond hair, blue eyes) you could well be a spring. The problem is if you give yourself a label right in the beginning, because you should train yourself to SEE. I can recommend the channel of Colour Analysis Studio - subscribed to them and also to Sarah's channel - They have a consulation online for the boyfriend of Giulia (both analysts are Italians). He is a warm spring, he ventures into warm autumn for office wear (more muted, darker, looks more professional). The characteristic that they have in common is "warmth" - in this case he stays in the warm season lane). But at the beginning of the consultation she draped him with some typical summer colours and they did not look bad at all. He has good natural colouring and contrast, and bright blue eyes (so a poster child for spring but I did not see that right away). So many viewers commented on him maybe being summer that they made a follow up video (to me it was clear in the first session that he is warm because they had draped him with salmon and burnt orange (a bit later in the session) and it looked good especially the burnt orange - a dead giveaway that he could not be a cool season. I could SEE how some summer colours, a pink and blue and green took away a bit of his face colour. His skin looked a bit more grey. But STILL these colours looked GOOD on him. Well those colours highlight his eyes (and the pink highlighted the slight pink in his cheeks and lips). He is very handsome, has good natural colouring in his face (a light tan, rosy cheeks and lips, the blue eyes, hair and brow medium brown). His gf has a phrase: It is stealing colour from your face (when she uses a warm or cool colour and it is a bad match for the client. I find that a very good description) - but he started from a good level so he could afford to lose some. If you get compliments when you wear summer colours it may be the same. You have enough natural intensity / colouring that the dulling effect of the cool colours do not cost you much, but on the other hand people notice how they highlight your eyes or they like the contrast to your hair colour. Good for you: it means you can stray outside of your palette. Maybe more in summer when you have a tan ? In some cases the hue (cool or warm) is not so important as the intensity. Even caucasians have to be mindful of the level of intensity (it determines their subgroup). People with darker or dark skin may find that intensitiy is more important for them as the cool / warm category. Colour Analysis Studio have a consultation online of a black woman that is a bright winter - but she can easily borrow from the bright spring. Bright orange looks great on her. The boyfriend of the other analyst (Alessandra) is a Latino. In his case it was also noticeable that intensity became important. The effect was not as pronounced as with Nell (or Melanie) the dark model, maybe because his skin is much lighter. And they also mentioned that for some people the characteristic "soft" becomes very important. So a soft summer can borrow very well from a soft autumn. Even though one is a cool and one is a warm saison. That may be more common when the person is naturally darker. The Mediterranean type, mixed race people. But I think it could also apply to caucasians. The characteristic of spring is brightness. The summer colours (even though they are somewhat muted) highlight some of your bright features (hair, eyes), even though they do not bring out the best of your skin. That may have led to the confusion.

Very educational to see the process on you :) I was wondering, as a fellow vampire skinned lass from a country where the sun doesn't shine thát often: how can you tell the difference from a yellow sallowness/golden glow (warm) and a greying wash-out/cool freshness (cool)? and also: one often hears that when a color is too warm you see a yellowness and when a color is too cool it drains the color from you, but... can a color that's too cool make one look more orange/yellow as well?

Hi. Thanks for all of the good videos. I seem to be tricky. I am a Caucasian with warm undertones. My hair is a red that looks brown. I have freckles. My contrast is medium, but in some lighting I look to be monotones of browns, in other lighting I look contrasted with dark hair and pale skin. I have pink cheeks, pink lips, and gray eyes that sometimes look blue. Pinks and purples of all seasons are my best colors. My best pinks seem to be neutral middle of the spectrum pinks, but I don’t know what that would mean. I then wonder, which season I am? Pure orange gives me clarity and looks very uniform, but it also causes some areas, such as my neck, to look more yellow. Strong colors look good on me, not neon, but just brighter colors or jewel tones of red, green, and blue. Aside from jewel blues, most blues tend to look out-of-place on me. Darks look pretty good but sometimes I think they age me. Pastels are a favorite color but I can admit they are too soft on me. I personally felt I concluded I was a bright, sharing winter and spring. But, for my dominant season, if I’m warm toned, that would put me as a spring? I don’t feel quite convinced I’m a spring though, as spring green is what I personally feel is my worst color, especially compared to an emerald green. I then start second guessing myself. Any tips to this riddle? Is it possible to be warm but not look good in warm greens? Is it possible to be cool but not look good in most blues?

@@sarahryanthestylecoach I understand, but unfortunately I can't play with color theory on a professional level. I guess I will just highlight this question, Is it possible to be warm but not look good in warm greens? Is it possible to be cool but not look good in most blues? Now I'm simply asking about possibilities. 🙂

@@ccgirl5055I think you are probably jumping to conclusions about certain colors that might not hold true for yourself. No, you can't not look good in the colors of your palette. So there are a few possibilities: 1. You're not warm. 2. The greens you're trying aren't warm greens. (Maybe they read as cool yellows.) 3. The greens you're trying aren't working because their saturation or value is wrong for you.

There are different schools of thought depending who you talk to.

Hey, i always thought i am a warm season. Because i am so yellow, but it may be my overtone. I think the cool colors are better on me. But the problem i have, what makes it very confusing is that i only wear gold because i think that looks better on me. I don't like silver and never wear it. Is it still possible that i might be a cool winter?

I did a color analysis and I’m Dark winter. However, when I try foundations, I can’t wear the cool ones because they look pink on my face compare to my neck. I’m pale but I have a little tint of yellow overtone. I can’t wear orange lipstick because they make my teeth look yellow. Is it okay to have a little yellow overtone, wear light warm foundation and wear dark winter clothes? I was doubting my color palette because of the fact that I have to wear light warm foundations

It could be that you have yellow in your skin tone rather than your undertone. I would suggest trying a neutral foundation in this case.

I have a cool undertone but a warmer overtone, my foundation is a neutral to warm light tone.... because all cool foundations have pink in them and I have zero pink in my undertones... which is what makes me olive basically. Not sure if you are but sounds like you could be. I think for foundation you have to consider the skin in its entirety, overtones matter even more. Just because most cool skinned people have pink in their undertone doesn't mean all of us do, make up companies or artist don't seem to get this. They are also saying that olive is an undertone but I think it's more the combination of cool under and warm overtones, or simply the lack of pink that makes one olive.

Love the checks you did to see if sister colors work.. That makes me question soft autumn for me, soft summer does not work. I'm medium to kind of low intensity. Middle between bright & soft, middle between dark & light. Hair is highlighted.. Is there a middle of the road season? 😊

Sounds like you might be somewhere else in the Autumn season if Soft Summer doesn't work. Cross checking really helps confirms your true sub season :)
