Totally spaced air filters and cleaner! So add about another $170 for that. Also, the fork seal jobs included new fluids as well (each about a year apart) and SKF seals. Everything else is stock, including the brakes that will need pads soon.

Two years I’ve waited to purchase an FE350s. I found a 2020 52 hours 1300 miles and the guy just paid a shop at 47 hours to change the piston and rings. The bike is all dolled up. Full air flow all the bells and whistles 8500$ he was in it for 15445. Regardless I was going to buy new then found this bike. What an absolute beast of a bike. I named it Luci short form Lucifer. Haha. The beast bike. I appreciate all your videos thank you!! Keep the wheels under you. Dee

im at 250 hours on my 2 stroke TE250i - 1 yr of riding. tbh I havent changed anything besides tires, oil, and air filter. but I have only 1 race under my belt and sadly a lot were canceled this year. Part of it to is I started on the TE250i as a new rider after 3 or 4 mo on the KLX250. Im going back and fourth between a 350 EXCF/FE350 because I trail hop a lot in Colorado's single track, but I feel 4 strokes are more maint long term. I looked at the piston and cylinder on my te250 and looks great still, but going to do my top end soon. 250 hr of ownership of my 2 stroke probably less than $400? still has strong compression, runs perfect so far "knock on wood". Im still a new/intermediate rider though, so not that much of an aggressive rider, but I am getting there; so I am sure that helps tons on keeping the machine still good. anyways thanks for the video!! Not bashing on 4 strokes as I have a few DS like the drz400, but from the cost of it, def prefer 2 strokes lol.

I'm looking at a 2017 FE350 with 11,000 miles. It's for sale at a small bike dealer near me. There's no info in the ad other than "excellent condition". Would you even consider buying one of these bikes with 11K? They're asking $4,700. I thought that was reasonable. Then I added the maintenance costs you just mentioned and I could almost buy a new one. Great content! Thank you for all the detailed info.

Good overview on everything! My local dealer is ktm and they really want me to get one of those 350s but I've rode hondas and was also looking at a crf450l. I can't believe a top end rebuild is ~6000 miles. Honda does 20k top end rebuild but oil changes every 600 miles.

Great video! Recommend that you try the seal saver by Motion Pro. Once the fork seals begin to weap, a few wipes with this, they typically stop (SKF seals). Seems you could save some cash on the oil changes. My 350 XC-F is 8 years old and I don't race but I do use cheap rotella (Delvac 15W40 conventional) and haven't had any issues. I change it at 15 hours. Only 100 hours on bike though. Want to say, your valve adjustment video is also great!
@OregonDualSport4 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks man! I do have the seal saver and do use it when they start to weap, but it hasn’t made a difference. My bike has unfortunately been subjected to many muddy ass races that aren’t too kind to seals lol. Glad you dig the video and found the valve one helpful! - Jaren
@johnfryman44284 жыл бұрын
Hey Man - Thanks for the upload. Try using seal savers or a similar brand of neoprene wraps that fit over the seals and about an inch of fork tube. I have not had to replace seals on the Ktm's I've used them on.

Many thanks for this video. Exactly the info I'm looking for as I'm considering upgrading to an new FE350, from my 2018 model WR250R. Over the past 2 years I've done 12,000 km (70% dirt trails) on the WRR, and have done 4 basic services (every 6 months or every 3500 km, after first service at 1000 km). Your video made me realise the FE350 needs a lot more attention. In the past 2 years I've only done 4 oil changes for my 12,000 km on the WRR, whereas you have done about 20 oil changes for your 200 hours on the 350 (approx. 6000 km). The FE350 is lighter and quicker and will be an awesome upgrade, but I need to get my head around doing all that extra maintenance. For light trail riding, do you think 20 hour oil changes would be OK instead of 10 hours?
@OregonDualSport4 жыл бұрын
The FE350 is just a much much higher performance bike. The WR250 is an awesome bike, but lacks a bunch of power. To make big power in a small displacement bike means higher maintenance usually. Not sure how you ride, but the 200+ hours on this bike have been hard ones, especially with racing. I would stick to 15 hours on the changes. After all, it is an expensive bike and motor, oil is cheap insurance in the long run. I don’t regret the amount of service one bit. - Jaren

What gearing did you like best for all around trail riding? The stock 14/52? I just got a 2022 and bought a 13 tooth front to put on but I’m afraid it might be too low. I do very minimal road riding but still I am concerned it might make the gear ratios too tight. Got out for the first ride yesterday on the stock 14/52 and it actually felt pretty good but it was a mellow ride that had a lot of fire roads and minimal singletrack…

I use rotella on my FE350, change it every 1000km or 15H whichever is first. Also I only change the filter every second oil change...filters really only get done not because its needed, but because its a "might as well" scenario on cars since the cost of oil is often 8-10x more than the filter. For the filter to clog up or start bypassing debris, you really have to have a big problem..
