Absolutely great job! The rule as I was taught it, is that if you need to make more than a 6 inch run from the track to the main throttle bus, you run a 16 gauge stranded wire from the bus to the 6 inch or less 22 gauge solid wire. That will transmit plenty of current! I agree that for runs up to 24 inches the 22 solid gauge wire is ok!

Nice video! can't wait to see the train go top to bottom! Atlas also sells rail joiners with feeder wires pre-soldered to it for anyone interested or for people like me who's bad at soldering lol

That's a great tip, thank you

You can plug the connector from the command station into either port on the back of the UP5 and both ports on the front are live. There are two ports on the back so you can connect multiple UP5s to each other and not have to run a cable back to the command station for each UP5.

First, I would like to say you gave me some good ideas. However holy slack batman, you were generous with the feeder wires.

The 12 gauge stranded wire fit in the DCS210 terminals without any problems? You didn’t have to remove any of the strands or make any modifications?

I think I may have had to cut a few strands off. I don't 100% remember though.

New to the electronics side of this... i assumed the tortoise would be on its on separate bus/circuit. Im not comprehending feeders to it from the track bus as power. Is it basically just using the tracks voltage but no dcc signal? Or does the tortoise have its own address that you have given it via the dcc system and whatever button you have programmed throw it, without having to do all the old school wiring of a separate switch in conjunction with the track circuit?

DC power controls the Tortoise motor. DCC feeders are needed for the polarity of the track. The frog has to switch polarity when the turnout is thrown.

Have you used the Digitrax DS 74, BXP88, and BXPA1 together yet ? I'm in the process of understanding how to wire them together and of course digitrax gives us "So much information" lol. Let me know maybe we can chat Cheers! Thanks for the video!

Too bad to didn’t blow the horns since the sound is a big part of the dcc capability to this beginner 😂

Hardly for beginners..have no idea what all that was..
