Funny, those replacement capacitors look like the same ones I used to fix my electric truck. Neat how one thing can fix two vastly different machines from vastly different eras.

Eh... It's a bodge job, most people like to replace all of the capacitors, check resistors and tubes and such before they even turn on the radio; which I suppose is the safer option. I however like to at least hear it somewhat work before I commit to doing all of that, especially on something like this with a power transformer which can be dead and the whole radio is pretty much junk at that point. This radio is by no means safe to use in the condition it is in now though for multiple reasons.

@WalterKnox I have nearly identical one from 1939. Replaced the frayed power cord & turned it on for a few minutes, everything lit but audio was just crackle. Proceeded to disassemble, remove asbestos & label everything, should I be motivated to repair someday (probably won't). So you got farther than I did.
