Hello! I just want to send some friendly love to you two today! This is one of the first channels I followed since I reignited my passion for gardening 2 years ago. I have followed you ever since and I have loved seeing your homestead progress. The original potato series is actually what I started with and have had great harvests the last two years. I am a 29 yr old single mom to a 7 yr old girl and a full time 5th grade teacher. Gardening these last two years has really changed so much within me from my relationship with my little girl, to knowing myself. I credit you two for also helping me use gardening to connect with God and deepen my faith. Again, I appreciate the effort and work you two put in with your videos. Thank you and God bless you, your marriage and your homestead. ❤

What you say is so true. Here it is January 2022 and I have containers of bushy potatoes that I robbed for Christmas and New Years new potatoes. They are still healthy and happy. Never had that happen before. Some years all I get are little ones, some years big harvest, some not much but since I use ends with eyes from market potatoes, it is what it is and I am lucky for what I get. Right, I will try this out. I don't containers, but I found potatoe growing bags I bought a few years ago. Got some seed potatoes which I can now plant. It's a variety also known as "Christmas Potatoes" over here in the UK. Got some good soil. Instead of mulch, for the top layer, I will try using crushed cockle shells. That should also deal with the slugs. I have also planted some carrots, leeks and ... celery and a couple of garlic into the same container. Just realised that I need to start keeping a log of what is in which container :-) . All fast growing so should enjoy them in a few weeks. Your videos are really interesting and educational. I enjoyed the one in which you explain what actually happens below the ground with potatoes in detail, using a drawing. Thank you.

I went back and watched your growing season from 5 years ago in the 20gal buckets. 3 of 3 brought a question to mind. You drew out and explained the different stages of growth and explained the "green line" Also the difference between determinants and indeterminants. Kennebec's being determinant, could you stagger plant your seed potatoes at different levels and possibly get more potatoes because they're growing at different levels? Possibly not crowding each other out? Just a thought but I think we may try that with one bucket of each variety this year to see what happens. We have some 10gal buckets may start 2 potatoes on about 3"s and 2 more at about 6"s. TYFS Mark n Rosa

I started growing potatoes in buckets after watching your video 2 years ago. For the most part it has been a success other than a few getting too much water.
