In Canada, they still do it, its mandatory, and I just passed my G2 test last month.

when my daughter did hers, they hade her back into a parking space, but she didn't do a parallel park, and I don't believe my son did either, b/c I was surprised when they didn't

Here is one more type of parallel parking... Stop on one window width from parked car Turn 3 quarters steering wheel Go back once its align turn the wheel completely to opposite side and park

In the end every car is diffrent So there are no "Universal" tips what to do or look at during maneuvers like this. The only way is to practice. Toyota yaris is diffrent than dodge ram for instance, or VW passat

Yes, the skill that works for all cars and people is the notion of distance between the front car and the back car, and know how to use the right wing mirror to see the distance between the wheel and the curb

You pull up next to the car in front, wheel all the way to the right, and start reversing, when you're at an exact 45-degree angle, straighten out your wheels (turn the steering wheel left twice). Back up just a little bit, then crank the steering wheel all the way left and keep backing up until you're lined up with the car in front. Easy peasy!

No longer part of the driving test in Ireland. But still a necessary skill to aquire. Parallel parking has been replaced by reversing into a parking bay. Necessary when parking in car parks in supermarkets etc.
