Note to anyone who has been looking for the tutorial for the auto smelter: The latest update somehow broke the export system for the furnace. However, if you put a link cable and only allow the items you filtered for smelting, it will work just fine. I added a link to a hopper on top of my furnace while exporting the fuel. Works as intended, but that's basically how you'll now do it until another update. Edit. This only works for one furnace

Thank you so much for this tutorial!! It was a great help in understanding the mod better. Now I do have some questions: So I want to create a storage room like yours except make it as large as a common house for community usage in a multiplayer server. In a room, I have 3 double chests stacked on top of each other and in a row of 21. I plan on filling up the entire floor like this. Do I have to connect each double chest with a link cable to the network cable? Or will one link cable connect the entire row and stacks of double chests? My next question is about claiming the chunks. If I want multiple people to have access to the storage from wherever, is it possible to make this work considering only one person could claim chunks of land? Is there a way to bypass this issue? Or is it simply not possible to achieve this?

Sorry for the late response. Don't know if my answer with help you anymore but just in case someone else has a similar question here it is. You will need a link cable connected to every chest/inventory. And with the claiming chunks I don't know for certain. Everyone can have access to it with the crafting remote. But to access it from anyplace like you would if you claimed the chunk I'm unsure. Maybe if you are all part of the same team then it's possible. But it's definitely worth the test.

outdated but very helpful.. i used this to get a good understanding on the mod. some things have changed within the mod but nothing actually new just visual changes and crafting recipes. also i feel sometimes the system gets a little buggy in regards to auto smelting and storage as sometimes either the cables do not appear to be linked but are or they are linked and are not feeding or they just skip a chest or furnace and then work on the others.. tho it may still work.

Hello, Awemsome tutorial! I really appreciate it. Just one question: I am using filtered cables and the allow list to only accept certain types of items when I put them in the Request Table... however it is not working; the item, once dropped in the Request Table, get puts randomly in other chest of the network. I was doing some reading and found that I need to set the value as -1 in the Filtered Link configuration for it to work, and this did the magic, but somehow feels illegal. Based on your experience, do you know what am I doing wrong?

bit of a longshot, but im having issues with the auto smelting part. i have the two filter cables. one set to the ore, one set to the fuel. it will not pull both in without cutting off the other. it will pull whichever one i put in first, then won't pull the second unless i cut the other filter out. not sure what's going on.

its a bug with the latest version. you need to rollback to 1.11.3 - tested and works fine.

Yes you can. Just stick it on a cable that's connected to the network root and it'll work just fine. Do not make another network root though and it'll mess up your current systems network.

Hey, is it possible to do this without any of the export cables? I have set up a supersmelter with like 24 furnaces, and only want to pull the smelted outputs from the furnaces and deposit them directly into the storage system. I tried swapping my output hoppers with link cables and tried to hook it up to my network root but that wasn't working.

NVM an import cable did the trick

As long as you use the import cables on the bottom of the furnaces that link to your network I see no problem as to why it wouldn’t work!

Sorry for the late response bud. But be sure you are using the right cables. And be sure to set the priorities. And no the blacklist and whitelist options are to either make a certain item not allowed to enter the cable or only a certain item be able to enter it.

Nope you don't need them going into both sides. It only needs to go into one of them. Can you help me better understand by what you mean when you say they go up? If you're just trying to just use it as storage and an access point a single link cable into it should be fine.

@fuzethehostages it should work then if its showing the amount of slots increasing when you do it. Are you having issues with it or was just curious? But I usually find it easier to have my links going onto one of the sides. But if your design makes it more efficient or better to have it going on the top then it should still work too.

I'll fill up the entire network only to go check and see that all my double chests are only half full. Frustrating bug. Your video helped me confirm it wasn't just me messing up. So thank you.

I don’t understand the point of network cables. It still works if you ONLY use the link cables. What’s the point of the network cables?

Although you don’t need the correct cable not doing so can eventually lead into problems with linking or unlinking when you leave loaded chunks, load or reload the game, etc. You won’t always run into the issue of your network no longer working but if it does stop working make sure your using the right cables!

My automation wont work. the system is pulling the coal out of the bottem of the furnace inv rather than the top or smelted section. not sure what to do.

On the top and side of the furnace should be export cables. And on the bottom will be your import cable importing all the processed materials back into your system. Did you mix up the cables? Shouldn't pull out any of the coal from the import cable if there placed right.
