What a lovely video. Please keep inspiring the young generation to make Opera and Theater a frequent part of their lives. Don't just save it for special times, attend often, and bring a friend!!!!

I am now 74 and fondly remember my first opera, Tosca, at the New York City Opera in 1966. My 2nd was the ill-fated Antony and Cleopatra at the then new Met. I was not ready for it and it had little to offer, but that did not deter me from becoming a passionate opera devotée. Opera has enriched my life over the years and has expanded and enhanced my appreciation for classical music. Thank you for this video! I hope it will encourage young people to give it a try.

I love opera. Since I was a child. My family friend was the opera singer Leontyne Price who sang Aida at the Met for many years. I was a subscription member of the Philadelphia opera for years.

The very first time I actually went to the Met was in 2007. It was for a concert actually..... The Broadway star Kristin Chenoweth did a one night only solo concert there (so versatile..... her humor, her presence, and the styles she sings from Musical Theater, Opera, and Country in one show). Those feelings of going to the Met was soooooo magical. You feel all the feels. Looking around. The sights. The moment those chandeliers rise when the show starts is so epic.

Great video. We’ve been going to the Met for thirty five years. And have seen hundreds of performances there. $200.00-$350.00+ for best seats. And over $1000.00 for gala performances..
@inspiredzozo2 жыл бұрын
Yes! The tickets are quite expensive...luckily there are great student discounts! If I buy tickets full price they're usually over $200 like I said in the video...personally have never bought $350+! Must be great seats :)

Enjoyed your video very much . Am a true opera fan. Loved your pointers on why not to be afraid of opera. And speaking of places to eat, have had many dinners at il Violino. Looking forward to more tours with you.

Metropolitan Opera respects the great composers work. So I prefer its presentations above others. I love Wagner music represented many times. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for watching! Many people use it as an opportunity to dress up semi-formal but I think you can equally get away with jeans and a nice shirt. It’s whatever makes you feel more comfortable!

The best way to find tickets is on the Met Opera website. They will often do rush tickets and if you’re a student you can also have access to discounts

La Traviata and Carmen are definitely the best to start with if you want to introduce yourself to opera music. Mozart’s operas are too long and Puccini’s ones are too good for a first experience !!!
