Het guys, well done . Just one remark.. Mark sure the cables to each rack are exactly the same length ( path from inverters to batteries should be exactly the same for both racks) , otherwise you may see an uneven charge and discharge on both racks

Yep, they are different lengths right now, it's on my bucket list to fix that 😀

You may swap the negative cables on the 2 racks, so both will balance resistance.

Didn't think of that but would probably work great. I really just need to replace the other cables with the same length of4/0 welding wire so they are equal

Great upgrade. Was just a little concerned that the little boy was in the background near what appears to be open buss-bar connections. While I'm sure the breakers were off, I would recommend safety covers for those buss-bars. Just a suggestion.

Not a bad idea! He is only allowed in there with supervision. The exposed wires are the 48V DC battery wires. All high voltage AC wires are covered by conduit.

what are you using for charge voltage that will effect change % you need to get the batteries to 100% to ballance
@daddio7249Ай бұрын
Will Prowse recently posted a video about charging LifePO4 batteries. They need to be charged up to 100% occasionally so the BMS can get them balanced. I don't know if you have enough panels to do that for long. Seeing those bus bars on the wall without covers bothered me a bit, they are right at little hand level.
@DIYorDIE_Off-GridАй бұрын
Thanks for the charging tip! I think they have had a chance to top balance already with the sun. My experience with the BMS is that if they don't get fully charged like one a week to top balance the individual batteries can have quite a bit of variation in charge.

I have four 15 kilowatt Apexium batteries @60 kilowatts. Each battery uses Grade A EVE 300 AH ver 3 cells, has Bluetooth, 2 amp active balancing, 200 amp charge and discharge. Each 15 Kwh battery cost $1,824 with free shipping and no sales tax from Texas warehouse. Total cost for two batteries @30 kilowatts is $3,648. You paid $8,343 plus tax and shipping from Texas for 30 kilowatts. Our batteries are 8,000 cycles and the talk to our EG4 18KPV with the Pylontech protocol. You over paid by $4,695. I got our 60Kwh for less than you paid for 30Kwh. Like you, we are 100% off-Grid and enjoying the lifestyle.

Hey, thanks for joining us! I don't think we overpaid for anything, we got exactly what we paid for, and we got some good deals from SS. There is always other tech and equipment out there that one can find and maybe it's a better deal and maybe not. At the end of the day, we have been very happy with our system, and if you are able to find equivalent types of equipment with equal customer service at a better price, well good for you!

Yes, it does heat up a good bit in summer. It's on my bucket list to add a ventilation fan. Winter is great, no issues down here in Georgia.

Is there a reason you did not choose to go with the Flesboss21 and a couple of batteries? It has higher ac output with solar. Lower self consumption and higher efficiency which might be a 1/2 battery a day. Many ways to skin a cat. Not sure where that came from.
@DIYorDIE_Off-GridАй бұрын
We chose the EG4 6500 2 years ago and have been running them for over a year and a half. Flexboss didn't exist. Also, i like the 6000XP style, flexibility, and redundancy. Maybe I'll rebuild the system after the house is finished and try a different model, but for now we are very happy with our solar power system!

You might reach out to SS or Will's forum but in my experience using 4/0 AWG on 121kwh battery bank - 60a on 4/0AWG vs a little larger is not causing the different SoC / amps charging. It's more likely that you should top charge all the batteries to sync them up to 100% SoC and then they would be more in sync / evenly distributed amps charging. I get that you're living with a live system taking time out to top charge them all is difficult. Maybe the communications/algorithm between the batteries is smart enough to bring these different banks closer in SoC over several weeks - but not sure - e.g. SS would know. The problem with LifePo4 cells is they have a very flat voltage for most of the middle range of charge/discharge and so an SoC of 40% and SoC of 60% is essentially the same voltage. This is why you have to bring them 'all' up to 100% so the SoC can reset at 100% - otherwise the system doesn't know by voltage.
@DIYorDIE_Off-GridАй бұрын
Yeah, that is a great point! You are exactly right, I will have to run the generator on a sunny day just to make sure they all top charge to 100%
