So wonderful to see how much you let her system steer, Derek - asking "what needs to happen here?", instead of trying to direct the session, very instructive, a great example. Thank you for sharing this! And thanks so much Tammy for sharing your process.

This was so extremely helpful to me as a client working with an ifs therapist. I have a perfectionist part that needs to know that she is doing it correctly and another part that questions if my therapist actually knows what he is doing. Seeing a real session and not something phony or scripted was invaluable. Thank you!

Interesting.. I have similar doubts about my therapist's abilities to work with my parts. I didn't have those feelings when doing EMDR, or other types of somatic work. How is it now? Did you work through it?

I so appreciate her willingness to be vulnerable and allow it to be filmed and shared. This was incredibly helpful to me as someone just starting IFS. Not to mention I related too many of her parts. Derek's skill and explanations were perfect.

A somatic counselor taught me about Internal Family System (IFS) - never knew about this until now - wondered why it's not well publicized? I felt so relieved that I'm not crazy dealing with multiple inner persons inside me. Was nervous that the medical society would diagnose me with incorrect labels - thankfully the tests came out negative but was left with more questions. Now, I understand I need IFS therapy. As a Deaf patient, as there any IFS specialist fluent in American Sign Language and can meet via Zoom? I wonder? Thank you both for demonstrating how IFS works, looks like and providing insights in how helpful the methods are. You both were amazing~

An incredibly effective demo of a powerful IFS session. I am studying the model and this kind of tool is invaluable as a teaching aid. Thrilling to watch a skilled and gifted practitioner at work. Thanks to Tammy for the willingness to heal (and share her process!). Thanks to Derek for the great tool.

There is so much in this session, both as a practicioner and my own productive and needs attention parts got some love. Tammy and parts, thank you. This is my first time experiencing Derek - and I appreciate the teaching parts weaving in and out of the work (I often work in this way). Saving this one.

Fascinating.. But she did state that she needed a boundary in the beginning.. Self? Or protector part? Was so very touched to see you having the sadness of that little 4 year old. Helped me get in touch with my own little 4 year old. So beautiful. Thank you for sharing this.

I'm appreciating the offering of possibilities on which direction to go and who to work with plus the checking in that it was alright to go ahead with the part as well as the respectful stepping back from parts when necessary. Beautiful to watch the flow as well as the appreciation shown to parts for their efforts and acknowledgement of the sense it made.

So great to see skillful honoring of protective parts. I just discovered IFS (as in yesterday) and am devouring content on it, and have walked through it a few times with myself. Honoring the protector, managers and other parts around the exiles is a big part of the incredible effectiveness of this process, I'm experiencing. This work is a revolutionary as the polyvagal theory for trauma healing!

This is exactly how I feel. When I discovered IFS last year I saw Oh! Somatic therapy for the body is what IFS is for the mind - (and the body, really) It was a hugely satisfying click. It felt like coming "home."

Thank you for your generosity in sharing this session with us. I loved how you, Derek attuned to Tammy, and also shared your own sharing of your parts, it is such a beautiful way to co-regulate, non-pathologizing how parts can feel intense emotions, body-sensations and thoughts. Awesome time orientation to help her sad part know she is safe. Loved the question "what else has she been holding or been hard for her part?" - Loved the unblending process and checking in with her parts to Self and Self to Parts. Loved the releasing invitation into the elements. And leaving it with what else she might need to complete the release and resolution.
