Before you install the Sheetrock you should add a 12” -3/4” pic.of plywood so you do not have to find studs that is the way I have bing doing that for years when you remove the Sheetrock

Could you clarify by what you mean with respect to the measurements (12 inches and 3/4") of the plywood? And do you mean that this plywood be used to cover the whole wall before adding the sheetrock? Thank you.

Or do you mean to attach a 12-inch wide strip of plywood with a thickness of 3/4" onto each stud before attaching the drywall?

I have a holesaw kit that would cut a 5" round hole for an extraction vent.
