That was really cool. That was a lot of work for just $60. Now I understand why the local repair guys in my city only offer leather wraps, and not linen.

thanks for the videos I'm doing cue repairs and learning to build cues and I love watching how other people do things

Super simple way to remove the old glue residue: run the lathe slowly and use a large flat fine single-cut metal file. Lay the file on the spinning cue and allow the weight of the file to do the work; clean the file frequently with a file card. The smooth teeth remove no wood but perfectly plane off the old glue residue.

I really liked the video. It was very interesting. I watched a self proclaimed cue repair person do a linen wrap in person, and he skipped like 90% of the steps you did, during the process. Great job.

Could you use ultra fine sandpaper to remove the leftover string and glue. Also, McDermott does replace linen wraps on all of their cue sticks and also they might be able to fix the warp. Check out McDermott's policy.

I spin the cue and z3 use a piece of 320 grit sandpaper to clean off all that fuzz left under the old linen. You can mask off the cue at both ends so you don’t scratch the finish.

Hi, I’m glad you liked the video. Most cues have somewhere around 55 yards of linen in the wrap :)

Ever thought about getting a new variable speed controller that will run that dc motor slower? Makes doing linen wraps much easier. And the linen press, I made one for 30 bucks worth of aluminum and left over delving from making custom collars.
@Cuejo3 жыл бұрын
I can make it much slower yep, I usually spin the cue faster, but it needs to be pretty straight for me to go faster

Hi, Paulo here. What type of glue do you use for the linen wrap?
@thedevilinthecircuit141410 ай бұрын
It was an Elmer's Glue stick. Same stuff you can buy at any office supply shop. It's like a big fat Chapstik. But don't use it in place of Chapstik

How do u get a new Irish linen wrap to get less slippery? Just got a new predator and the wrap is too slick. Does the starch help that or make it worse?
@Cuejo3 жыл бұрын
You could try a light clean with a small amount of laundry detergent and water mixed. Don’t get it too wet. The fibres will raise a bit. We generally desire the smooth finish, but everyone likes a different thing Hope that helps!
