I wanted to express my gratitude for your outstanding video on OBS. I've watched numerous tutorials, but your explanation stands out. Your ability to simplify complex concepts makes it incredibly accessible, especially for a beginner like myself. After watching several videos, finding yours was a breath of fresh air. You truly have a remarkable talent for making things easy to understand.

Hi Joe this video is really exceptionally helpful to setup OBS. After a first shot to the application I thought it will not fit for me, but with your explanations there is a chance for using it for my planned genealogy tutorials. However after some tests it looks like that I would need two monitors, one where I record from and the other to place OBS allowing to change settings e.g. swithching scenes or is there an option to assign short cuts to a scene name in order to switch between sceenes during the recording when OBS is minimized?

Thank you for doing this. I went through the steps and got OBS up and running in no time. Fantastic tutorial @Joe Milne! I do have one question and hope you can help me sort this out: my video image from the c922 is seemingly sharp when i view it in the obs studio mode panel. However, the video image in Google Meet and in Zoom when activated there is soft. I've turned off the auto-feature in the c922 via the logitech software as well as in the video processor settings in OBS. Still, my image from OBS --> Gmeet or OBS--> Zoom is soft. How can I fix this?
@JoeMilneEnglish3 жыл бұрын
I found your comment! Sorry for missing it. I responded to your email also: Hi Ninfa, Thanks for appreciating my video! Sorry that I missed your comment on my video. I'll answer your question here. I think that I have experienced the same thing, and it's to do with Zoom and other software's video decoding (or something like that). You might want to try changing your video settings in OBS and playing around with the resolution until you find something that fits. Try both 1080p and 720p for example and see if either one of those is better. To be totally honest with you, I don't use OBS as a virtual camera in Zoom unless absolutely necessary for this reason. Let me know if that helps, though! If not, I might have to look into this a bit further and get back to you. I don't mind doing that. Cheers, Joe Milne.

Really enjoyed it and got a ton out of it! My only issue is audio monitoring. It has to do with playing a live video feed from VR, through my computer to be streamed out. When I go to a scene that only has a web camera and a mic, I mute the mic, and the meter shows no sound, which is what I want, BUT I hear sound through my headphones, so, it's coming from the computer. Great, super-helpful video. When using a mirrorless camera (such as a Panasonic Lumix G7), with an HDMI-to-USB (for streaming)... the audio is always on time, and the video is late. What would be a recommended millisecond delay, in the audio settings? I do 250ms but sometimes I've noticed it gets out of sync. Is this a common thing with mirrorless cameras streaming via those HDMI-to-USB adapters? Thanks! Btw, subscribed. SUPERB tutorial, man. I watched both of your videos on obs -very helpful -thank you! Real super basic questions-do the scenes get saved anywhere? Like a “project” save in some programs. How do you save your work for future reference? I have tried to use the virtual camera aspect but I’m having a hell of a time with the green screen. The minute i access it say in zoom, the green screen looks terrible. I’ve spent days trying to figure out a clean green screen with good lighting, etc. just isn’t working can’t get it to look as clean as you guys and don’t know what the problem is... any suggestions? And thank you so much for all!!!
@JoeMilneEnglish3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! The scenes stay as they are until you change them. Even after you restart your computer. 😊 I don't think you can save/export them. Sorry you're having trouble with the green screen, it sounds like it might be due to a low-quality camera you're using. If it's an internal camera, it won't work as well. External cameras are the way to go. Hope it helps!

So impressed with your channel Joe and with this video in particular. I hope you are making some good money with this Tutorial because it is "the" go to for OBS that I have seen (out of about 20) ! I subscribed today as well. Did you say that you are in Peru ?

Thanks a lot, Frank! That means so much to me. Thanks for subscribing. I'm in Peru, yeah.

Hi Joe, many, many thanks. I found this video extremely useful in setting up OBS as a beginner! My problem is I would like to show my desktop like you have done but this feature is has not working for me especially after making changes to my graphics settings to power save mode. This still does not seem to work! Can you offer another suggestion that can help me fix this? Many thanks! Patricia

Glad it was helpful! You should try running OBS as an administrator. That might work.

Great video and there were some things that I learned too. I will be honest I am confused on how to screen record on OBS. It could be that I am using an Apple version of OBS. I would love to record some classes to see what others think of my teaching but so confused on how to screen record. Thanks for any help!

Thanks a lot, Eric! I'm glad this helped you. Just make sure you set up a screen recording scene that has a display capture set as one of your sources. Let me know if it works.

@@JoeMilneEnglish what does that mean

Add a new scene, call it "Screen recording" or something, then add a new source and select "display capture", then select your monitor (e.g. ASUSROG271440 or whatever). Done.

I also use mac with OBS and it would be great to check out to do a screen recording while doing online teaching. My mac is really not best suited for recording the screen, using ManyCam and teaching online at the same time. It starts to buckle under the pressure.

You can open two OBS programs at once. One for your webcam, one to record.

You did helpful videos that were useful for me during my ITG days. Thanks for that. This is a good one also. Keep up the good work. An online company I am now with, is going to use OBS online english training. Seems like a lot of work to give an adult, who can read and write english, the opportunity to speak to a native speaker. But, maybe glitz is important.
