I am so thrilled to have found you. Your voice is so pleasingly melodic. I do not see how this could possibly be more enjoyable or understandable. Thank you so very much for your generosity. You have become my favorite 6-10 minutes of any given day. Poor Paula

I attended 20 hours Spanish lessons already but can barely speak & understand anything. Thanks for this complete free lesson. I plan to listen & practice 1-2 audio/s per day. Personally, I love this method. I used this method last year and reached conversational level of Japanese faster. :)

00:00 📜 Convertible words in English can be transformed to Spanish using specific rules. 00:27 🇪🇸🔀 Ending "ent," "ant," or "ent" in English often becomes "ente" in Spanish. 02:14 🌟 Word patterns in Spanish help connect meanings and pronunciations. 03:22 🇪🇸🔊 English "j" sound becomes "j" or "g" sound in Spanish based on context. 04:31 🏃‍♂ Experimenting with convertible vocabulary expands conversational skills. 06:06 🧠 Being comfortable with errors while experimenting accelerates learning. Made with HARPA AI Summary The video discusses language transfer techniques for learning Spanish using the Thinking Method. It highlights rules for converting English words to Spanish, such as appending "s" to create convertible words, considering stress for accents, converting "j" sounds to "h" sounds, and altering words ending in "ally" or "ably." The method aims to provide over 3,000 words for conversational use while encouraging experimentation with vocabulary conversion. Highlights 💡 English words can be converted to Spanish by adding "s" to create convertible words. 💡 Stress and accent placement are crucial when determining the Spanish equivalent. 💡 "J" sounds in English become "h" sounds in Spanish, like "Argentina" becoming "Argentinha." 💡 Words ending in "ally" or "ably" can be converted syllable by syllable with accent placement. 💡 Over 3,000 words can be achieved through these techniques, enhancing conversational skills. 💡 The method encourages experimentation while learning, allowing for rapid vocabulary acquisition.

The “g” and “rolling r” sounds are difficult for me, but it helps so much to hear the instructor and the student pronounce them repeatedly.

these are great! however, the instructions say to pause the recording to form your own answers but he asks the questions quickly and she responds rapidly so it is hard to do so. There needs to be a longer pause- so there is enough time to pause the video without hearing he answer.
@LanguageTransfer
@LanguageTransfer 9 жыл бұрын
+Cici Battle Hey there I just saw this sorry about the delay! Others have commented on this and the time to pause (1-1.5sec) has been doubled on the courses made since to always 2 seconds. I understand at times the 1sec can mean that sometimes you might hear the answer before realising you should pause. If this occurs however, you should pause anyway and rethink it out, if it's only now and again it shouldn't cause any problem at all if you do this! Best!

Cici Battle personally I think the time gap is ok, because some learners are fast learner and not patient to wait for longer time gap. :)

What is this woman's native language? I have never heard a beginner who's native language is English speak Spanish with SUCH a good accent. She has a better accent in Spanish than you?! She sounds so natural, rolling her Rs and all. I cannot get my mom to stop saying R like the English rrrrr.

I don't think she is a total novice. She sounds like someone who speaks Spanish at an A2 or B1 level, i.e., high beginner or low intermediate level. Virtually no one speaks Spanish with that good of an accent unless they have studied and/or had prior exposure to the language. Also a total beginner wouldn't be able to answer so quickly (in most instances). The first time I tried this series I had difficulty because the lessons moved too quickly. I gave up after 3 lessons. Now that my Spanish has improved through studying and traveling in Latin America, the lessons are much easier. So if you are having difficulty, or she seems to answer too quickly, it's not you. These lessons, in my opinion, are for people who have studied and can speak basic Spanish, not total beginners.

Of course, one of the notorious problems with english is that there’s no way to know if it’s spelled -able or -ible. At least as a native speaker, I’ve never been able to figure it out.

Hey! I mention this at some point in the audios although maybe not in this context... but that's also a great thing about learning Spanish in this way! It'll force you to notice and resolve doubts you have about English, not to mention being able to decipher unfamiliar words in English through Spanish, I think I gave 'mordent' as an example in one of these tracks! :)

Yes, but swap the "m" for an "n." Confortable and confortablemente. Also, IME "cómodo" is used more often for comfortable than confortable, but this probably depends on which country you're in. Both are acceptable.

Think of it as a bonus... I mention at some point in the course how Spanish improved my English! It really did. For one thing I realised how 'could of, would of' couldn't possibly be what I was saying! haha Learning Spanish will probably make you realise a lot of things you are uncertain of in your native language, use it all to clarify those doubts and become more language conscious generally, let the two feed into one another, it's a ball! 🤪

05:20 This might be the biggest drawback of this method, since a beginner is unable to tell if the conversion from English to Spanish would produce a meaningful result in some cases. Also I wonder how well would this method work in other languages that are not rooted in Latin, such as, for example, Chinese, Japanese, Arabic etc. because I don't think there would be much similarities to exploit this way :q
