Definitely. I met him at a distributor show in the late 1980's. Being an Orioles fan since I was a youngster, I was in awe of meeting my favorite player. We spoke for about 5 minutes during the show. I was quite nervous, but he made me feel comfortable and at ease the moment we started talking. We talked about baseball and my recollections of certain situations and games. He was engaging, polite, and seemed genuinely interested in the subject matter we discussed. Never met another player or celebrity like him as most will give you a few seconds and move on. He will always have my utmost respect and admiration.

As a lifetime Yankees fan, Brooks Robinson was a player who was respected and when he made “those” plays you just shook your head in amazement. The Yankees have Old Timers Day, it’s unfortunate that they don’t invite opposing players such as Mr. Brooks Robinson to demonstrate the ability of the players who truly made winning, losing and competing at this level so special.

That was awesome. I especially appreciated that Dusty Baker took the time to greet Brooks personally. Although the two never played against one another, they did overlap in their playing times. Such a classy move on Bakers part. I truly hope that the young O's understood the greatness that is Brooks that they were experiencing

I had to come over and watch this. I wish I had caught it last season. I wish I understood the magnitude of it all. But I do now. Seeing him throw the pitch the Gunnar, seeing the respect on the faces of Adley, Ced and everyone else. I wish that stadium was packed for him. I wish he was able to stay with us just one more month, to see this team go for the glory that he helped provide the city of Baltimore for so many years. But, this moment means so much, to have the chance to pair the original Oriole with this young, talented bunch. That fleeting moment of time where these paths cross. It's everything baseball.
