I love Gal Civ, But the lore has two completely unbelievable things for me. 1 that the other races never developed fusion and 2 that we would share hyperdrives with everyone.
@TheRedKing Жыл бұрын
The fusion part I agree with; but I can foresee a world where we shared hyperdrives... naively so but nevertheless, could happen!
@MrHellknightimp Жыл бұрын
Ok, that's probably true
@Brakvash Жыл бұрын
To nit-pick, they did say "advanced" fusion, not just fusion - so I interpreted it as the aliens having fusion, but the humans have better fusion.
@raphaelrodriguez8316 Жыл бұрын
In a galaxy of only rational actors, sharing fusion power and hyperdrives should have created infinite prosperity that rendered war obsolete. But this is a galaxy were at least half of prominent powers are motivated primarily by an irrational desire for genocidal conquest.
@Keren2 Жыл бұрын
@@raphaelrodriguez8316 Not like Stellaris, where 9/10 of the powers are motivated primarily by an irrational desire for genocidal conquest. And the remaining 1/10 are just looking for erradicate all life in galazy.

One thing btw. Pretty sure humanity was perfectly willing to let the Xendar live as a species and just blockade their home system while the Council sorted things out from there. But the Drengin, terrified that their involvement would come to light and the 'now savage humans' would come for them, basically sent down strike teams covertly who detonated WMD's across the Xendar homeworld. Humanity never found out and just played off it diplomatically.

Interesting, but I feel like your forgetting someone. Wasn't there a race of aliens from the future? I forget what they were called in GC3. My custom race in that game was designed using their template.

Yes, I left them out as I had introduced alot of empires already and didn't want to confuse the overarching story to much. Same reason I didn't address why there are now two human factions

I played third GalCiv and it was great. But I encountered bug, that just did not let me end turn and it repeated on every playthrough, sometimes early, sometimes late, but always,it was there, lurking in the shadows of the code... So after a few attempts, I stoped playing...

I have put a few hours into it, it's enjoyable and the backstory is great. I believe Montu Plays has some gameplay footage if you want to see what the gameplay is like. I would recommend the game if you enjoy the 4x genre, however I think if it was my money i'd probably wait for a sale. It's £41.99 atm, which I think is probably a bit expensive.

@ChromisPasqueflowerBowerbird Жыл бұрын
Rather unrealistic non of the aliens have discovered fusion power where freaking stars are literally everywhere in the universe.... Not to mention fusion power isn't even the most advanced form of energy source scienist have envisioned.
@willyvereb10 ай бұрын
They discovered fusion power, they could not make it widespread and economical before. Our own world has fusion power for at least 70 years now but making those reactors actually practical and produce net energy (so far they take more energy to operate than what they produce) is a whole other issue. I feel humans reproducing FTL technology and reusing it for hyperdrives is the major copout. It should've taken significant time for their civilization regardless. The entire timeline of GalCiv is a bit strangely accelerated.

@@marcusblackwell2372lol, no worries, basically Galciv has also always been turn based instead of real time and almost always includes several 'campaign scenarios' with specific win conditions and the like.
