Thank you so much for demonstrating that not every picture needs a completely page covering background. So many postings of these books seem to have two levels of work: beautiful coloring of the actual picture and just a mess of unnecessary color blotches behind them. Of course, sometimes backgrounds do complete the picture but sometimes they do not. Again, thank you.

Glad it was helpful. Backgrounds can be beautiful, as you say, but if I am not feeling it then I move on. As Johanna herself says sometimes the picture just needs to breathe.

Hi...I have a huge number of these adult colouring books including a couple in this same range. I do it for colour therapy/relaxation because of suffering with depression and anxiety. I prefer to use Gel Biro pens...always felt they would be more colourful than colouring pencils...I think you may have changed my opinion looking at your completed books. Stunning! Thank you so much and so glad that colouring helps you. I think you get an immediate splash of colour with a pen but with some pencils you need to layer them up to get a vibrant result. Depends very much on teh brand, so do your research before buying!

Thank you. I found the paper a bit smooth and so soft pencils smudged a bit. So polychromos and ergosoft were probably the best for that paper

Thank you. The spreadsheet was extremely simple! Just two columns one with a description of the picture (they were in the order they appear in the book) and one with the pencil brand. If the page had little pictures on it, I just listed the brands in the order the pictures were on the page. That was it, very simple!

Hi there new subscriber here. Your coloring is amazing. I love to color my entire life but not to this magnitude. Maybe one day. I also have never finished an entire book. That’s a goal for me. Are you using all pencils? Cause those pages are double sided so I think would bleed through with markers. Thanks for sharing,

Hi, thank you for subscribing and for the compliments about my colouring. I use mainly pencils, but some chalk pastels and some pens. I use Staedtler fine liners on occasion which do not bleed through if you are light handed. I also use Posca paint pens and gel pens and they do not bleed through either. There is a test page in the back of the book which I use to check before I use pens. Good luck with your goal of completing a book!

Your coloring is gorgeous. I’m working on the US ed. of World of Flowers and my first thought when you opened a book that is still in ONE PIECE is that I am just NOT buying any more US editions of Johanna’s books….they COMPLETELY fall out of the “binding.”
