When laying bricks, always put a little mortar on the end of the brick before putting it in place. It makes a better bond. I love your work.

Ray Caster, I totally agree about doing something with the floor of the pond. I suggested boulders, large rocks and stones, like in the stream where he gets his clear, spring water from. These rocks, ect, are all over his land. Works as a sediment controller. Thank you!

It's hard to figure out -- the water so cloudy & opaque yet it's mostly a stagnant pool. Unless the inlet water very silty from soil runoff upstream

I'm sure you won't spend money on an electrical pond water filter, but perhaps you can fashion a natural biofilter, maybe pond water pimped up and out to a 55gal steel drum loaded with layers of gravel, sand, and charcoal (you make yourself) which filters the water and returns the water by gravity to the pond. A waterfall or pond aerator (fountain) may help oxygenate the water so aerobic (rather than anerobic) digestion of organic material happens. Good for fish. But probably main problem is organic silt from the surrounding heavy clay soil.

I'd be curious if you dug out a couple of big buckets of fish pond muck, piled it, let it dry well in the sun. Then break it up and add it to a plot of garden to grow something in. The pond bottom is likely silty clay but fish doo-doo and other debris makes excellent fertilizer.
