Scott , just finishing up an over the post railing on a winding staircase and balcony. I bought the Lamello invis mx2 system because you made a good case for it and I have to say, I couldn't be any happier !! What a time saver when assembling and dis assembling things to get the fit right. Fantastic!! Thanks for the info and keep up the good work, Jay

That's good to hear Jay! I was doing a bunch of Invis connections today and fine tuning some of my techniques. Video coming shortly. Cheers, Scott

Have to get one for the next railing job! Fantastic. I remember seeing Tommy use this on this old house years ago. Keep up the good work !

Yes it is a great tool. Especially for a pro (like you). You can bill out the joining elements, which is a bonus. A few years ago I'd never heard about it. Then a commercial finisher told me about it and I checked it out. Well worth it. Thank you for the encouraging comment!

It has been said that working with wood is not rocket science. Well this tool is sure bringing woodworking closer to the rocket science spectrum. LOL Love your channel, it is very informative.

Why would you use the connector on a glued on joint? I would much better joins available for that. I see use where clean removal is required, not otherwise.
@scottearlsmithFTCАй бұрын
I use the Invis on glued joints to hold the pieces together firmly while the glue sets. Very difficult to clamp two sections of railing together. Let me know the better joiners you use. I'm always looking for new solutions.

please what is the name of the second machine you used to chip in the wood?
@scottearlsmithFTC Жыл бұрын
I believe what you are referring to is the Festool Domino XL 700. It's a great machine for making solid joinery. www.festoolcanada.com/search-results-page?keyword=domino%20xl

I really was shocked I never heard of this? However my question is do you use this much? Or it’s nice to have? Cost to buy also?
@scottearlsmithFTC2 жыл бұрын
I use it on every railing job - especially on mitred handrails. I've also used it for railing to newel post connections. It's around $800+- (Canadian dollars). So it's expensive enough - but not crazy. Thanks for reaching out.

Great video. What type of stain are you using?

Thank you! I can't remember actually. When I get back to my shop I will look and see if I have more left and let you know. I use a professional paint shop to guide me towards the right products and they're awesome. Thank you for the comment. Cheers Scott

how about magnetic 45 degree joint?
@scottearlsmithFTC Жыл бұрын
Yes as long as the material is deep enough to accommodate the fittings.

Does this work on an inclined handrail? Like with 22.5° mitres?
@scottearlsmithFTC Жыл бұрын
Yes. I've done them on mitres and also where the railing meets the newel at the newel at the top of the stairs. Check out this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aqKcgoKKotyEp7M Cheers Scott!
