Updating the user interface is definitely one of the most enjoyable parts You can box the floor pan and lower firewall if clearance allows to help better fit the pedals

How do you box a floor pan?
@Thoroughly_Wet
@Thoroughly_Wet Жыл бұрын
@@jetink600 basically like tubbing for slicks but from the inside to better fit your feet and pedals. Also part of the firewall cut out the section of the floor pan and firewall you need deeper, drop it the desired depth, the fill in the gaps with sheet steel.

Hey I'd recommend putting washers on the outside of the seat to bracket bolts, it'll just make it a lot safer and won't risk ripping through the metal of the mounts in a crash.

With your shoulders back against the seat, you want your wrist to still be able to fold over the top of the wheel, and you generally want the top of the wheel about chin-nose height for proper reach and clearance.

From personal experience... If you can reinforce the back of the seat to the harness bar, it will help quite a lot.
@_Gingium_

You can't on these seats, but they're also steel frame seats, not aluminum or fiberglass, so they're much stiffer (albeit a little heavier)
@roboman2444
@roboman2444 Жыл бұрын
@@_Gingium_ Yeah, steel frame is probably good enough. I just had a lot of side-side flexibility in my Aluminum seats that was completely removed with bracing. Front-back wasn't bad, it was just side to side that became very noticeable on the track.

Hello Caleb, what are you planning to use as anchor points for you harness/seatbelt? Because I would like to warn you that you might need a re-design of your seating frame if your planning to use it to mount your harness to. The reason is that the connection between seat and the front bolt is based on a weld which could snap under the force of a crash resulting in the seat moving down/to the front which would lead to an increase in forces on your body. I would make the base frame out of 1 peace or make the longitudinal strips (which bolt to the car) out of a single piece of metal. Or At least brace the welds by boxing the frame. If you want to know the forces per point I would like to refer to ECE R14 or ECE R16. Unfortunately I do not work as a mechanical engineer in the automotive anymore otherwise I would’ve have helped with the actual design.

I good driver can adjust to the vehicle , no matter the car/truck. You keep changing the truck instead of changing your technique. Driving competitively is about driver adjustment more than car . You keep changing the truck but yet to master anything you have done from day one without looking at the big picture. A good driver can drive a slow/ under powered faster than a powerful car with a inexperienced driver. Long time sub. But to be honest the channel was much better when it was low budget because it relates to the masses.
