Sam completes a lidded box that was first rough-turned. After a period to allow for drying, he puts the lid and base back on the lathe to finish the project.

I enjoyed the video, but I particularly liked the intro showing beautiful mountains and deep blue sky. You are fortunate to live in such beautiful country.

Hey Sam! We live in Wyoming and dailyvlog! We often drive through Worland because we have family in Thermopolis! If you wouldn't mind checking out our channel that would be awesome! Definitely subscribing because my boyfriend loves wood working but is starting out compared to you!

BEAUTIFUL TURN!!! I would be proud to have that box. Question: Would you ever soak a piece of wood to make it more turnable? I have some walnut measuring 3%moisture content. Every time I try to turn it, it splits a long the grain. I need help! Thanks! SAFE TURNING! JOHN

Hi Sam, back when you were looking for a new smaller lathe I recommended the Oneway 1224 mainly because I have used one for years without issue. Having said all of that: I noted in this video that your 1224 has a knock. One of the things I enjoy about the 1224 is its quiet operation. I would suggest that there is an issue that should be address before it becomes a problem. Thanks for your videos always enjoyable to watch.

Thanks for sharing Sam 👍 I work pretty much 100% with green wood. Living in rural Wales I have more than I can use! The one thing that's always bugged me is the bits left after cutting the corners from bowl blanks. Well... this just gave me the confidence to use them for boxes. Always kind of avoided them.. not sure why. Quick question... what is the normal drying time for a box of this size in your drying cupboard? I have one very similar that I use to finish off bowl drying. Thanks again Sam and mind those saws. Blood thirsty blighters! 👍

+Robert Venus Depending on the wood, it could be 2 months or for denser stuff it might take 4 months. But I am never in a big rush. Nice to hear from Wales.....Sam in Wyoming
