For the Alt strat i think that every time you turn off alt(character selection) the game will spawn a ton of bullets at once but after that first few seconds of firing really fast they seemed to slow down so you could hide behind the car then turn off alt. Wait a few seconds until they stop firing fast then you could get into the car with a higher chance of not dying and it might be more reliable

The bullets and projectiles do go to where the crosshair is aimed, it's just that they come out of your gun, not from the middle of your screen. So if there's something in the way of the arc from your gun to the target, like a corner or wall, it's gonna hit that. Except when the guns just clip through the walls lol

I believe NPCs in vehicles can still shoot you while you're holding Alt. Also think this might be important considering you have 2 million hours in GTA V, so here are some things about aiming: 1. Bullets don't start out of the camera. It may be counterintuitive, but they start out of the gun barrel. It is thus possible for a shot to be obstructed even when line of sight isn't. This has one important implication: When walking out of cover to the right, your camera comes out of cover before the weapon barrel. If you shoot when the camera is barely out, you will shoot your own cover. 2. Thrown weapons (and grenade launchers) are aimed to hit the point the crosshair is on (except of course when the target is out of range). So when trying to hit an object, aim directly at the object. Not above it. The game corrects it anyway. I think the game might even correct for moving targets, but I'm not sure about that one. This has possibly two implications: On The Jewel Store Job (Smart) you should be aiming at the inner side of the farther lip of the air vent. If I'm right about the game correcting for moving targets, it may also be easier to hit the helicopter on Hood Safari by aiming directly at it.

The barrel thing is right,but corners hitboxes are inconsistent causing bullets to often travel through them(what he and prob the majority of gta online players) abuse. If this would at least be consistent it wouldnt be a problem

The two most consistent strats for the mission you're stuck on is a. killing everyone, or b. try using the vans to block off everyone. a is definitely the hardest but it is the one you're least likely to fail as much

In the bury the hatchet mission: Try getting in the van behind train track and reverse further back, that way you wont have to wait for the train to pass while holding ALT and, perhaps, drive in with more speed so even when the van dies, you roll further and make it far enough to shield the car.

I have a fact for the fact and glitches series that you made me think about when you were doing Daddy’s Little Girl Unless you actually see the bullets hitting you or your car, most of the gunshots you hear are just there for effect (like the bullets ricocheting off of your car when you have the cops) i know this because of the import/export missions in GTA online where you have to steal cars and deliver them to a warehouse while doing the least amount of damage to them

the problem with the cross hair is that you're in third person so the trajectory is at an angle. being in first person will elimate the issue.

also, crosshair shows where your grenade will go, but doesn't show the arch it takes. And, you're firing from the hip so it launches from the side towards the middle, not straight on.

You're in 3rd person over the right shoulder, so you're gonna be able to see past where your character can actually see, that's why you're hitting the walls rather than shooting where the crosshair is. They'd have to make the crosshair work the same way it does for aircraft, where it lays the crosshair over hitboxes where the projectiles collide, that way the crosshair isn't going through walls, but then you have the problem of the crosshair being annoying popping up and down and not being able to pre-aim enemies that you can see before the character does.

Id say with the alt strat the reason you don't get shot is because the bullets aren't actually rendering. The sounds are real shots but the bullets aren't materialized until you are back into the world. I wonder if it prebuffers all character changes with the graphics and because of that the bullets aren't rendered since the developers didn't want a death on swap nor did they predict someone to exploit the character swaps. You should test if bullets rendered before the alt strat still are lethal. Congrats matt for breaking the game again.

I have one legit question - wouldn't using the first person mode help a LOT with some of the blind corners and "blind firing" from cover? Since whilst shooting normally, the camera is right in the character's face instead of to the right, and while in cover it still shows a lot of stuff that is beyond the cover whilst functioning pretty much the same.
