Before you start important focuses (austria referendum, czech referendum) you can pause the game and go into your save games folder (Documents/Paradox Interactive/HOI4/save games) and take a copy of your savefile and put it somewhere else. If you get bad RNG you can paste in your backup and save a lot of time of having to restart the run over and over, instead only having to wait for the focus to complete again.

As a fun coincidence, you posted this while I was in the middle of my own Austria-Hungary restoration achievement run. I think it's been the most cursed run ever. I went through a well-planned, meticulous, micro-heavy run. The plan goes well, if incredibly painfully: the Romanian demand event always went haywire but I rolled with it, and my taking Polish territory procced an early confrontation with the Soviets which went well due to collabs I'd been building up. I managed to basically take all of the USSR. I wasn't able to capitulate the allies before America joined, but that's fine, it gives me some time to build up an army anyways. I eventually capitulate the allies, then backstab Japan, then have to fight through Japanese-occupied China which is a fucking nightmare because having a jacked Japan defending in the supply black hole that is west china just eats manpower and equipment and takes forever to gain even an inch of ground because I have to build supply hubs every ten seconds. I finally capitulate Japan, become the leader of the Axis, kick out Italy to reclaim my cores they have, Italian capitulation goes well. The last step is to kick Germany and conquer the few territories I still need. But the game unavoidably crashes when I kick Germany and the run is now literally unsalvageable. I had over 2000 factories and a fully-collab'd China's manpower to draw on. It didn't matter. If seeing little green bubbles and big encirclements didn’t hit my dopamine receptors the way they do I would be so much better off. For my sins I have been called a Hoi4 player.

If you ever want to add some fun to that micro hell, make super speedy mediums or lights and use the tank conversion exploit to make an entire army group of them. If snaking gives you a HOI4 boner then aggressive battle plan light tanks will fill that void.

oof. I quit playing when I had an great soviet game ruined by turkey randomly deciding to 1) declare war on me and 2) join the allies. When you play on the hardest difficulty it's not great when you get tag teamed by the entire planet and part of that tag team includes 150 indian, american, south african and australian divisions rushing through The Caucasus and turkmenistan and getting halfway to moscow.

Both the US and Britain went interventionist, and I had to fight an Allies that consisted of all of Europe and the US in 1940. That war only ended in 1952 after I capitulated Australia and caused over 150 million total casualties. All for one achievement.

When I did this one a while back, I did it without historical focuses, had germany flip monarchist, annexed italy before germany got them into the central powers and took down the allies early with germanies help. Pretty easy if you do it this way.

Siberian Tiger only requires you go to war with one major, and because of the NSB Supply system, if you push hard enough at the very start of the war to take the supply hubs, you can literally just sit there and let the Soviets bleed themselves on your line until the Germans get them close to capitulation. Habsburg Prince on the other hand requires you to basically do a world conquest, is frontloaded with a lot of RNG, and the states you have to take only vaguely correspond to what the achievement is based around. Like I'm not an expert but I don't think the Habsburgs ever ruled over Jerusalem.

Charles of Anjou, founder of the Kingdom of Naples, 'bought' the title to Jerusalem in 1277 which passed to the Kings of Aragon in 1442 then to the Austrian Habsburgs with the War of the Spanish Succession in 1700. That's the excuse Paradox used just to make this achievement a meme anyway. The King of Spain still claims to be king of Jerusalem today btw.

1:57 the way I made sure czecks went to me is just increase reputation a ton, and once they're full reputation they always (I think) join you (If you ask them to join without having that full reputation or if you didnt do it while germany was demanding sudentanland, they become your puppet, which is a bear to deal with) also increase rep with romania and austria so they will accept demands (yugoslavia always joins a faction by the time you get there, so be ready)

I HATE this challenge so much. It relies on RNG too much and it’s way harder when you don’t have the spies DLC. Tip if you don’t have the spy DLC: Germany always demands the sudetenland At the 21st of January 1939 so make sure you research Czechoslovakia at around the 20th of September 1938 also start improving relations with them, that way you’ll complete your focus around the 20th of January but don’t accept the reunion until the 25th just to be safe. Also have two 20 devisions on the border of Czechoslovakia to increase your RNG that they’ll accept the reunion. Learnt from countless failures.

The thing about Czechoslovakia agreeing to being annexed if being subjected to either Demand the Sudetenland or Fate of Czechoslovakia can be confirmed in the event file "DOD_Hungary.txt" under "DOD_Hungary.10" (the event that triggers for Czechoslovakia when you complete "Protect Czechoslovakia"). The base factor for them agreeing to annexation is 20. This goes up by a factor of 2 (it's multiplicative, IIRC, so it'd go up to 40) if World Tension is over 20, another factor of 2 if Czechoslovakia is not in a faction, and a factor of 10 if Germany is in the process of doing either Demand the Sudetenland or Fate of Czechoslovakia. The last one almost completely guarantees it, especially since World Tension will probably be over 20 by the time you're doing it so the total chance would be 800 (which is countered against values of 50 for close association and 30 for outright refusal, which translates to both choices being, like, a 1% chance each of being picked). But I'm pretty sure you need to actually finish it while the Germans are still doing one of those focuses, not *after* they finished them. I'd say it's probably better to just keep trying to reroll the RNG early on since even though it'd be annoying, the earlier you get to annex Czechoslovakia the more build-up time you'll have. It's more IC in the long run.

This anomaly is due to the fact, that Hungarian King Andrew the 2nd ventured to the Holy Land in 1217 on a crusade. Although he never conquered Jerusalem, he and his descendant Hungarian Kings and Queen proudly wore the title: King of Jerusalem.

The problem with this path is all the random chance involved. Max chance for Austria to do referendum AND say yes is 76% Max chance for Czechoslovakia to be annexed is also 76% which means you only have ~58% chance to get the best outcome for both.
