Thank you so much! I was unsure how the awnser of a problem where I have to find argument of a problem simply indicated as being -3i (so the real axis (Re) is 0), but you explained it perfectly in how the angle is measured from different segments. Because the point is in the 3pi over 2 line, the angle is pi over 2 (I know it's shown as a minus, but my teacher always siad an angle can never be negative so that's what had me confused and I THINK I understand it now, thanks to you). I would never have even known how to ask about this, but you awnsered it so perfectly, thank you sooo much!

The word is quadrant. The first quadrant is the section in the top right of the cross going from 0 to 90 degrees. The 2nd quadrant is the top right going from 90 to 180 degrees. The 3rd quadrant goes from 180 to 270 degrees and the 4th quadrant from 270 to 360 degrees.

It's much easier to just consider this rule: argz=tan^-1(y/x) (+/ - pi for fourth and third quadrant respectively) i.e. Add pi if z on the argand diagram falls in the top left quadrant. Subtract pi if z on the argand diagram falls in the bottom left quadrant.

I have a question. Let's say z=1+i Argument of z would then be equals to 45 degrees. How about the argument of 2z? Do you take 2 times 45 degrees? Or is the argument of 2z still equals to 45 degrees?
