Complications of Hardware Removal

While hardware removal may improve patient function, the procedure carries risks of unexpected outcomes. Despite being among the most commonly performed orthopaedic procedures, scant attention has been given to its complication profile.

I had 22 screws 2 plates and a rod removed my two legs tibias felt much better after and have not been fragile. But I was youngish I think 35ish? The only thing still left is a broken drill bit the original surgeon possibly did not even realize he broke? Or else just neglected to document for whatever reason...stange looking xrays now with this drill bit just suspended in the bone Anyway the only bad thing about hardware removal was dr wanted me back on crutches for some weeks ...which mybe was overkill idk but I tried to obey somewhat i took a week or two vacation from job in trades and after that mostly just used a cane ... it all felt good to me but I tried not to take chances....eventully I was back racing and regularly crashing 500cc Moto Cross never broke legs again knock on wood
