Dior Homme Intense 2011 by Christian Dior is a Woody Floral Musk fragrance for men. Dior Homme Intense 2011 was launched in 2011. The nose behind this fragrance is Francois Demachy. Top note is lavender; middle notes are iris, ambrette (musk mallow) and pear; base notes are vetiver and virginia cedar.
Valentino Uomo is conceived as a young Italian heir, whose timeless elegance comes from his legacy. The new edition of the fragrance Valentino Uomo from 2014, Valentino Uomo Intense, comes out in the spring of 2016, announced as the more intense, charismatic and masculine version.
The composition is suave leathery, deep and bright; a typical Italian fragrance style. While the original fragrance represents white leather, the new version brings the intense scent of black leather. Its top notes contain clary sage oil and fresh mandarin. The heart notes include the elegance of iris absolute and tonka bean, laid on a base of black leather and vanilla bean.
The face of the perfume is French actor Louis Garrel. The refined design of the original bottle remained the same, coated in a darker shades of gray. Available as a 50 and 100 ml Eau de Parfum.

Honestly, I went with VUI because it’s less in your face and more versatile, as you said. Worked wonders for me both at work (lots of compliments) and on dates with my gf (lots of compliments there as well). DHI (as well as DHP) is a tad bit too strong for me since I am one of those “weirdos” who don’t really gravtitate towards beastly and hyper performing frags. It was a hard choice, but in the end I went for VUI. It also has a better price online than DHI, so that can be a deciding factor as well for some guys.

Dior Homme Parfum for me is still king in this corner. But I heard that in USA the DHP is not available anymore. So come to Europe ;) we still have it in Douglas and Sephora.

Valentino. EVERY TIME. Love both to be honest, but I have to disagree with you on the Valentino being more sophisticated. I find the Dior to be that, it's French after all, it's all in the details (just like a French bespoke suit), it's classy. The Valentino, well, it's Italian, it's classy also but sexier in a more playful way (at least to me), it's more to the point, the sort of let's go down to business, I'm here to flirt. So for me, VUI, but nothing against those who prefer DHI.

I agree, both are near identical - but if were picking at straws VUI has a more playful vibe. I'm smelling both on each arm; DHI is slightly darker more woods more suede of some kind more alluring, more serious. VUI has a more powdery bright vanilla bubble gum vibe. More uplifting. People claim the DHI is chocolate and VUI is vanilla but i don't get that. I get DHI as a Iris vanilla suede woods, and VUI as an Iris vanilla powdered bubble gum. VUI for the win!

I own both of them Kev. DHI- first formulation and first reformulation. For me, it boils down to the whether or not I'm feeling the leather note in VUI. If I want leather, I reach for VUI. If just want a gourmadish sweetness... I go for DHI.

I am rocking my 2016 bottle of DHI as a daily scent... Since is a tad weaker in comparison to previous batches. This "weakening" of the composition makes it easier to wear, and maybe an all year round scent. I have gotten a lot of compliments lately at the office, the classroom and even in the gym! DHI is King!

Stopped through Nordstrom last week and scooped up Valentino Uomo Intense. Wore it out for NYE 2018 and it performed well. I like the justification Kevin provided with regard to purchasing it as opposed to DHI. I prefer the subtle nature of Valentino Uomo Intense over DHI personally. Great video!

I prefer DHI however you cannot buy a new bottle of the original and the new stuff is no good in my opinion. If you want the strongest scent you can get a new bottle of Uomo as opposed to a 7 year old DHI that has lost a lot of its flavour and intensity.
