Btbam (like many proggy bands) has a tendency to write concept albums so a lot of their songs are often built to be part of that greater narrative. They do have an album called The Anatomy of, which is just a collection of cover songs from their influences. They have a pretty good cover of three of a perfect pair from king crimson If you are going to do albums from this band I would recommend either Colors or Parallax (I & II) I is an EP, II is the full album If you want to do a single song from Parallax, I would recommend the KZbin video of them live in studio playing Extremophile Elite

I think your analysis and reaction were spot on. I'm glad you seemed so affected by and and could provide very good insights on it. I've been dying for someone to react to "BtBaM - Melting City". It's probably their song which I love the most, and has a part which always gets me emotional. I would love to get your take on it!

Automata (newest album) is definitely the most accessible of all their works! Honestly as much as I would love to see you react to Colors or Parallax II or The Great Misdirect, I honestly think you would get the most in one listen out of a full album react to Coma Ecliptic, their 2015 release. Concept album musically and lyrically, and their attempt at a rock opera. Although it’s not my number one from them, I 100% feel it’s them at their tightest and most cohesive in their entire catalog. The themes and variations offered throughout and the way the instruments play off of each other is so incredibly well put together!!

Evan Smith dude no doubt!! I still find little nuances in even Alaska, like damn how have I never noticed this? Legit the other day caught Blake’s amazing tom work in the beginning of Medicine Wheel and really felt the impact it has on the atmosphere, and just acknowledged it for the first time.

Completely agree. Coma and Automata II are, in my opinión, their best composed albums. I find their songs un these 2 complex, intricate, elegant, fun, fresh.... and tight as hell. Gawd i LOVE this band. These 2 albums + TGM are my fav from them. TGM is deff more wonky but It is darn fresh fun and entertaining. Plus it has one of my fav songs: Ofuscation

Yeah, Ants of the Sky was recommended for the reaction probably, it's probably their most random song. I would recommend Extremophile Elite because their DVD performance is on KZbin in GREAT quality, that video is fantastic Oh and BTW, they made quite a lot of concept albums (to listen from start to finish). This specific song is an ending so this solo closes the album. Ants of the sky was in the middle of an another concept album (thus starting and ending out of nowhere), so that's a factor their songs. Back to Extremophile Elite, that song doesn't have much of this continuity things, you can listen to it and pretty much make up your mind safely about BTBAM

God, no. Selkies is so goddamn overdone. It's not only the most vanilla song on Alaska, the solo isn't even that great - nice sweeps, but that's it. I would even say that him reacting to another Colors song is more desirable - and that's coming from someone who doesn't rate Colors very highly.

I'm quite surprised not seeing any coma ecliptic recommendations, now coma ecliptic is a full album but the album sits best in the context of each song after the other in order, since it's a concept album. But most BTBAM albums are concept albums so if you're too tired to do a full album reaction, I would recommend the ectopic stroll or turn on the darkness. Two very beautiful songs that I can listen to as stand alones and enjoy them just as much. Keep on doing BTBAM stuff it is awsome and they are awsome🤘

BTBAM started out as a metal core band and then turned into a progressive death metal band. Their earlier stuff is brutal and its interesting listening to their discography from the start to the newest stuff to here their transition musically as a band. The cd Alaska was probably a mix of the 2 genres then Colors was their full transition to progressive death metal.

What about revisiting The Contortionist? My personal favourites from their recent album Clairvoyant are Godspeed (on the shorter side but so good), Return to Earth (one of the singles released before the album, probably the most digestible as it doesn't flow from the previous song and it isn't a 'clean' flow into the next song; it's almost it's own self contained thing in that regard) and Monochrome Pensive (maybe not a good reaction suggestion as it is the last song of the album). Loving the content though man. I am usually biased to watching reactions to music that I already know I like or have listened to previously, but I'm trying to broaden my horizons as your music choices have been so good.

THA is one of my favorite bands every and I own all 3 albums (Midheaven being my favorite). I've had Faust on the channel but only because I was super sick that day and wanted something I didn't need to truly react to -- something I could just show off and point out some really cool things. I'm not sure about bringing them back as another reaction though since I'm quite familiar with them.
