You definitely gotta do more Enter Shikari! They've evolved a lot over their career even just from this to their second album. They are really unique and are one of those bands that always sounds like themselves no matter what style they incorporate.

funnily enough this song is older than the other 2 you mentioned hearing. This one is from their first album, "Zzzonked" is from their second, and "Hoodwinker" is a non-album single released between their 4th and 5th album. Enter Shikari are definitely known for combining electronics with metalcore/post-hardcore, having this very distinct, separate electronics part I think is something that was fairly common for the bands from "myspace-era" of metalcore, but on later albums they developed a much more distinct style and also a different approach to incorporating electronics, working them much more into the fabric of the songs and also getting stylistically more experimental. My favourite album of theirs is their 3rd, "A Flash Flood of Colour", which brings all these elements (as well as very aggressive political commentary) together in the for me most compelling way. Worth noting is also their most recent 2 albums take a bit of a stylistic turn, cutting out the metalcore almost completely and focusing more on the experimental electronic rock part of their sound, which also works incredibly well, some favourite tracks of mine from that more recent era are "Rabble Rouser" and "The Great Unknown". In my opinion Enter Shikari have consistently been one of the most versatile and exciting bands for pretty much as long as they've been active and you never gonna know what you get when they drop something new, but you can be very sure it's fresh and unique

"Separate, distinct dance sections" immediately makes me think of Stick Stickly from Attack Attack. Pretty sure that was another Myspace era band too 😄 I'll have to dig into that third album and see how they bring it all together one of these day.

In my opinion the newest album has some metalcore/alternative metal sound, maybe it's because of heavy distortion sound. Definitely heavier than two previous albums.

The frequency with which you see multiple vocalists in this genre, does anyone know if someone’s ever done a Meshuggah-esque polyrhythm situation with multiple vocalists singing lines in different time signatures, maybe something like a repeating set of lines forming sort of a shifting round? Seems like that could make for an interesting sound.

I saw a little bit of Enter Shikari at Donnington Download Festival in 2006 and thought they were the worst thing I'd heard in a long time... I've not lent them my ears since then, but I was really pleasantly surprised with this. I'll be giving them another chance :) Looking back at the performers, I'm a little upset that I missed Alice in Chains and Tool?! What the hell was I doing back then.

WOW! You praising a song with chaos, dissonance and quite a lot of repetition... Don't get me wrong, I loved this and gave my vote after listening from the theme-poll playlist. But sometimes I just can't follow how your taste works. Usually it's quite predictable after theese years of following your reactions 😊 Also, The Mars Volta wasn't a theme entry but a special selection. Some may stress that they have post hardcore elements but they're usually labeled progressive/psychedelic/experimental.

Interestingly I didn't find this track chaotic nor repetitive. There were certainly some sections that were very full and heavily layered but they made sense to me. Maybe this is the bridge band I need to get into more abrasive works as it pairs those elements with sounds I typically find palatable.

I really enjoyed the track, much to my surprise, last time I heard them was several years ago and it sounded too close to happy hardcore which I detest. It may have just been the one song. I imagine this band has a huge following and will be touring for many years.

Fun track, but I don't think anything in particular stood out to make me want to check them out further. I think the most interesting thing was the harmonized vocal section, and I do hear at least the potential for good hooks but even there nothing quite caught my attention fully.
