Him explaining that particular moment she jumps through the window during the buildup to the climax (most of us know) to then fake out into silence. Just like in the movie theatre I was sitting on the edge of my seat, holding my breath. And then hearing his choir score gently transition back into the climatic buildup. It’s just so well done. So careful, so respectful. I have tears in my eyes just by listening to it. I hope at some point they’ll release a full score soundtrack.

I just love looking ‘behind the curtain’ to see how “Wicked” came together. Such an enormous undertaking and it all came together so beautifully. I truly think the film is a masterpiece. I haven’t had such a satisfy film experience in a long time. Thanks to all who had a part. Everyone’s skills and dedication paid off in a big way.

Yes you will...figure it out....in spectacular fashion! I've always had music in my life. Played keyboards/organ in church...choirs...symphonic and concert bands...etc. I did two different tours throughout Europe...playing clarinet and singing. But I have to tell you...and I'm sure you had some part in this...when Ari and Cynthia sang together in front of the window...I burst into tears because they blended so well, I couldn't distinguish their two voices...I know how hard and amazing that is to do! Next the choir came in with the orchestra and began to drive it to the climax. Oh my Lordy...I was transported back, with my clarinet in hand...in it...I could feel it in my bones. But when the tympani came in, I thought my chest would explode...I've heard that so many times before and I knew where it would go. Just utterly amazing!!!! It's one thing to hear it...quite another to hear and feel it at the same time. So, my hat is off and I'm bowing to your expertise...you and whomever else was involved. Just amazing! AND, thank you for all the feels!!!! Can't wait for what you all do with Part 2!!!!

Great job John! I really appreciated the way the score incorporated themes from the main songs. I've been in love with Wicked since I saw it on broadway 20 years ago. The cues had a HUGE emotional impact on the way that viewed the film. Cheers!

One of my favourites from the "Wicked: The Original Motion Picture Score" is "A Wizard's Plan" which highlights several of Schwartz's beloved musical motifs along with Powell's powerful new compositions, including the emotive "The Green Toy" cue. Powell's score has moments that are delightfully reminiscent of Aaron Copland, and of Danny Elfman (including the use of ethereal choral singers) to name just two inspirations.

for mixing and mastering yes, but John actually uses Logic Pro for the writing/composing and creating score mockups. he's shown a few of his Logic sessions on Instagram and KZbin. only once everything is recorded by an actual orchestra, it's then put into Pro Tools for mixing. very common workflow in composing

@@MikeSheehan727 As far as I've seen online, many composers work this way. They either write and score in Logic Pro or Cubase and then lay back the stems into Pro Tools. I've learned this from Christian Henson's video on Pro Tools and why he calls it Sauron.
