Composite Decking - Does it Get HOT? Is it HOTTER than WOOD?

My friend has a wood deck, (that needs replacing). It gets too hot for bare feet. It's on the south side of the house and has no shade. She's deciding between wood and composite. She's also considering an awning.

Truth. Someone should make flip flops for dogs. I'd buy. Choose the lightest colour you like. That helps.
