I am an instructor for dental assisting and I refer my students to your videos all the time, so thank you. I was wondering where you got the rest for instrument transfer? I tried using the rest for the lab handpiece but it's too low. I would appreciate if you could let me know where you got it. TIA

That’s exactly what I used! A handpiece rest from a Buffalo Dental lab handpiece.

do you dispose the etch tips in the biohazard bag or the sharps box?
@StephanieDerfus
@StephanieDerfus 2 жыл бұрын
Many offices place in regular trash after disinfecting. The tips are blunt and not a puncture risk. Most schools operating clinics will place them in biohazard along will all other waste generated during patient treatment.

I noticed the curing light beeps every 15 seconds not 10, so what happens if it's on the tooth for too long? And why grab the instrument from the needle tip (risking injury) instead of the thick end metal part?
@StephanieDerfus
@StephanieDerfus 3 жыл бұрын
I’ve noticed the first beep is a bit longer than 10 seconds on this curing light, that may be to allow adjustments while getting it positioned as it it typically turn on before it is positioned. Excessive curing can generate heat. The tips for the etch and flowable are not sharp. We hold them this way in order to position them properly into the doctor’s hand.

Do you dry after the bond?
@StephanieDerfus
@StephanieDerfus Жыл бұрын
Depends on the system. This particular one, after placing bonding, blow air gently to thin it out, then light cure for 10 seconds (depending on light intensity).
