One of the things I've learned was one of those $1 monthly calendars from Dollar General fit almost perfectly in the back of one those composition books. I duck taped mine in the back and covered the duck tape with some pretty cardstock. I guess you could always use more decorative duck tape that maybe matched better, but I'm still just experimenting. Using the the calendar in the back saved me space inside the notebook for sections I need. Being a mother of 5 I need to be able to grab and go; so I use it for homeschooling, financial planning, menu and meal planning, journaling, and my last section right before the calendar is used for appointments and important dates. Add in some pockets or folders for misc. and it becomes really efficient. Everything in one book. It's been fun so far. You could even decorate the calendar itself with some paper the coordinates with the rest of the notebook. Great project!

I'm not sure I ever know what to expect of your projects wen you start them but from the start to finish I just love this project! (That's a good thing!) Your finish is amazing. I love the creative pockets, the mod podge finish, the calendars, oh heck, just all of it! TFS with us, and letting us use your creativity on our projects!...Blessings...Bobbie

Love this! I'm making a scrapbookfor our new house and stumbled onto this as an idea. Works great and has lotss of space for photos and blueprints, even landscaping ideas. Pictures of new neighbors as we meet them. Every thing in one place! Hurray!

Great tutorial, Amy. I like how you have gotten everything in the planner that you needed without adding a lot of extra bulk to the composition book!

Hi Maymay. I use plastic packing tape for anything I need to laminate that is small like tabs. I also use the plastic packing tape over the front and back covers. I use patterned duct tape on the binding to reinforce them. I use these in my math classes as an interactive notebook, but there are so many uses for them. Thx for sharing your ideas with me.

I've really enjoyed watching these 3 videos this afternoon. I will use some of thse ideas for my spiral bound travel journal rough notes before transfering to hard copy when holiday is finished. One problem though, I can't get Mod Podge here in Spain. Thanks for the ideas.

This turned out great Amy! I think I would love the same idea done with a binder. I love Nyoka's tip on the punch, then you could just stick it to the page without those plastic things. I hope that works for you.

Beautiful planner! And I, too, may have to try Nyoka's method! I've been punching doubles (and sometimes putting a piece of cardstock in between) to make them sturdier. That has worked well, but Nyoka's way seems a LOT simpler!! Thanks, again, for sharing this project! It is gorgeous! And I wish I had seen (and thought of) this before I bought my 2015 planner. This is definitely what I'll do for 2016! :)

Amy, on the tab punch.. just an idea... couldn't you fold your paper and place your fold just shy of where it punches so when you punch you would still have the fold... is that clear? LOL... just a thought... I really like the planner!! Thanks!!

I know I'm a year late, and someone may have mentioned this" but you can make tabs that fold over with just the paper. Simply fold the paper and put it into the punch such that the small tabby part does NOT get cut completely thru - just a smidge down from the cutting edge - then the fold will work for you kinda like a shaped card.

Hi Amy...Once again another stellar tutorial! I so enjoy all your videos. I wanted to get a Tab punch from WRK but wasn't sure how it worked. I'm such a visual learner. Ugh!
