Loved this video! I have followed Nicole for years and have made several glue books ~ both color and random. Mine are not even close to being as perfect as yours and Nicole's because I am very impatient. Isn't it funny how we all have our quirks? When you ran the black pen alongside your metal ruler's edge ... and then did not wipe off the edge of the ruler ... ack!!! I literally shivered!😂. Using strips of gel prints to edge your first book was a stroke of genius!!!! How I struggled with the washi and the glue sticks while edging my books!😮 While I love gluing, I absolutely detest having sticky fingers!!! At any rate, I love your videos ~ don't ever stop making them, please. Carry on!😊❤😊

I also laminate just the front side of each cover in a matte finish for protection if it is a notebook that will be subjected to hard wear. It protects very well and is easier than Mod Podge. I apply the laminate before I stick the covers on in the same fashion you have demonstrated. TFS your techniques. I enjoyed!

Thanks so much for sharing this process. At the beginning of every school year I can’t resist the urge to buy several of the composition notebooks that are on sale with the school supplies. Something about them appeals to me, but then I don’t quite know what to do with them. I’ve considered covering the covers and doing something fun on the inside but I’ve never known where to start. Wonderful video! I don't know why, but I'm intimidated by the covers for junk journals, so, I've been using composition books and really like working with them. I recently saw another creator paint the black spine on a book, and just did that tonight. We'll see how it works out. Your tip of just gluing the top and bottom of the 2 pages will save me a lot of glue! I also like the washi edge, but usually forget to do it. Now I have a reason to add it to my design. Did I miss - since origami paper is so thin, does glue wrinkle it? How do you adhere it to the page?
@CeriGriffiths Жыл бұрын
The origami paper is thin but I’ve had no problems with it wrinkling when I use a glue stick. When you glue only the top and bottom edges of a page then put washi tape down the outer edge you do trap air between the pages, this will flatten as you use the book.
@TravelProAlex Жыл бұрын
You mentioned there are supplies you pick up in the USA, as an American I was curious as to what you shopped for here that you didn’t have in the UK or was cheaper here, maybe I’ll ship you some!
@CeriGriffiths Жыл бұрын
It’s more about the cost, some things I can get here but they’re cheaper in the states, other things are only available to be shipped from the states and postage is expensive, I’d rather spend my money on supplies than postage. I’m usually in the states once a year so I keep my supplies topped up that way.

What even is a glue book? I'm not sure I understand the purpose of it? Why is anyone saying what's okay on how to make one, how to do it, or setting up rules for them? (i.e. You said, "I learned that It's 'okay' to have several going at once.) Honestly, if anyone is going to tell others how to craft, I may as well disconnect from YT, and maybe, I'd get out of my rut just by playing on my own.😆 😏😉 Rules, rules. Whatever we do, or how we do it is okay. I'm not sure we need someone's okay, except for copying their work. Just gotta do our own thing.☺️
@CeriGriffiths Жыл бұрын
Wendy I’m sorry I seem to have misled you, the rules are the one my OCD and perfectionism put upon myself. When it comes to art and creativity I believe there should be no rules however my brain likes to think otherwise. Watching other artists helps me come to terms with it being okay to let go of some of the controlling side effects of my condition.
