I've done makeovers of composition notebooks but I love new ideas. The only painting I've ever done on them from time to time was when I painted the spine. I had no trouble with the painting sticking to that.

I do this with the graph books for my Bullet Journals. Since it gets a lot of use, I use colored duct tape for the spine. I line the inside of the cover as well. I’ve made regular (college ruled) ones for my grands.

I use the skinny headbands for a closure - around the longways.

Sorry for such a late response! That is a great idea to use the colored duct tape. I love the graph paper, but wish it wasn't more expensive than the regular lined! I think you skinny headbands is a great closure!

You could use glue sticks, but I would only do that if you are using one you know sticks well and lasts.

Does this reptile glue give you that wiggle room? I'm just starting out and having problems with getting the right glue that won't warp my pages or stick so hard I can't move them.

It gives you a brief moment of wiggle room. I use the needle nose applicator bottles, so I use such a little that it begins to dry fast. I never have any problem with it warping the paper because I use such a small amount. I'm not sure if you know, but FabriTac is also used for paper and is liquid. A lot of people like to use it, and it will give you a moment of wiggle room. Have fun! Just keep trying things!
