Mow the leaves. Shred the leaves. It stops them matting and if you mix in a nitrogen element (coffee grounds, chicken manure pellets) it will go very very fast!

if the temperature is holding about 80 degees you could add some composting worms the center of the pile it will break down very well chuck ledbetter checotah ok good luck

If you mulch that stuff up, it will break down faster. You are creating maximum surface area for the microbes to do their thing. There is also a Su-Johnson bioreactor that works well. Something to look up.

Appreciating your video, crashing three small compost piles to use before snow flies. Know that being short on compost story. Have been flipping faithfully every two days. Need enough for 21 raised beds with soil testing below good fertility. Did not catch where you are located. I am in northeastern Ohio. Happy to subscribe.

maybe a simple wire cage could help to keep the height and to keep is in one defined space , opening up and turning or harvesting compost would be quiet easy

You are right. I have some of my smaller piles caged and they do get hotter and break down quicker. This one got too big too fast (a tree service dumped a whole rollback truck at once) before I could get it caged. Once I use this pile up, I will cage this area before starting another here. Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment.
