easy way to tell fungal food or bacterial i came up with is it's pH value. Fungal decomposers don't like alkaline food sources and bacterial decomposers dont tend to like high pH. Based on that, molasses does indeed seem to be fungi friendly!

i tend to believe that if there's no sugar Source or very very minimal you can Brew the cycle longer without the bacteria dominating also I'm using the same set up for Brewing which has a really strong air pump, 952 GPH for 4 gallons of water, and a additional fungal food added half way through brew cycle bacterial dominated tea I would cut my Brew time back to 24 to 36 hours. thanks again for the informative video will

Your logic makes sense to me. I will try some longer brews this season without the bacterial food source and see what it looks like. Thanks for sharing your experience. Always lots to learn and experience is the best teacher!

@@grokshop Have you had any luck trying this out without the bacterial food? I would love to see the microscope results! Great video by the way! Very cool stuff and your tea is very biologically active

nice video! would applying the molasses with the compost encourage more bacteria? my latest fungal dominated tea consist of... r.o water and ground oatmeal, 3-4 days under heat mat what kind of compost did you use? have you checked under the microscope regarding longer brew cycles? 48=72 hours ? i have been having some success using pre charged humus along with kelp, neptunes fish hydrosalate , yucca extract , kelp extract and calicum lignosulfonate. 60 hour brew cycle smells like fish for the first 30 hours then after 48 and alittle addional microbe food it will smell like earthy mushrooms ! again thanks for the educational video, well done!

Thanks. This was done with straight vermicompost from the heap. Yeah I have experimented longer cycles but not scoped them yet. Maybe this year I will do that. Have you had any issues with generation of anaerobic bacteria on your longer cycles? That is the typical reservation I see cited on the longer cycles. If it smells like shrooms though - one would think its going in the right direction for a fungal tea!

Would be interesting to see a sample of the fuzzy fungal growth under the microscope, via taking a direct sample of the fuzz and putting it on a slide. That way we can know for sure if it is growing good mycelium, or Oomycetes! Don't Oomycetes typically have a fuzzy characteristic?

This will always be the case, numbers of bacteria explode while fungi are very slow. The thing is to favor conditions for fungal growth, like putting wood chips, keeping temp. 25 degree c or below.

Awesome. We are lucky to have content like this. Real shit bro appreciate your knowledge. And how can we keep them alive in a hydroponics system?
@pinball0005 жыл бұрын
Tried a starting culture like woodchips with mycelium? Could be more diverse. Then slowly increase bacteria just as food for fungal

Wouldn't the compost have dangerous bacterium or fungal spores that we may help flourish? Say a peach leaf curl fungus from a near by peach tree? I mean how do we know we are growing the good ones? Thanks

What microscope set up are you using? I tried my daughters cheapo 400x and could only see vague movement. No real clarity. I’m researching 1000x tri nocular scopes for video and to pique her interest. Nothing like a shitty scope to turn a kid off to the micro world. My experience with microscopes was 20 years ago. I’ve forgotten more than I know about them now.

I put the microscope amazon link in the description. It's a good scope for the price, but the plan objectives are more clear than the default achromatic objectives I used in this video. There are adapters for different types of cameras & you can output that to a monitor live which makes it so everyone can see at the same time (fun for kids).
