You have to subtract a year from the exponent that you put over the percentage because it doesn’t account for the first year not changing, that is why most people get the answer wrong when doing it this way

How do you do simple interest?
@mathsgenie7808
@mathsgenie7808 7 жыл бұрын
Kate McDonald-Liggins simple interest doesn't change each year. So to add 5% simple interest for 3 years into £100 1) work out 5% of 100, so £5 2) multiply by the number of years 3x£5=£15 3) Add it on £100 + £15 = £115

Just wanna ask your opinion on this, but my teachers say money is an exception and should always be rounded up. Because if it's not, then someone would be losing out, even if it's only very little. They also say the examiners shouldn't really mind.
@mathsgenie7808
@mathsgenie7808 7 жыл бұрын
+Saito Hiraga there are always two people involved in a transaction, so one of them has to lose out! If you are buying something and you round the price up you will be the one losing out. If you were selling it would be the other way around. As far as I know the convention is to round to the nearest penny.

why did you add the decimal on the first question , 105 to 1.05 ?????
@MrUzzyb
@MrUzzyb 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Jasmine. In regards to your question, 1.05 is obtained in the following way: (1+interest rate). The interest rate in this case is 5% which is the same as 0.05. Thus, if you add 1 to 0.05 this will give the value 1.05. I hope this explanation helps you.

Basically U added that 100% right?thats not apart of the question u just have to do it with all the questions so u divide by 100 afterwards--idk y I just know that’s what you do However,I just learnt this and I’m only starting it now so I might be wrong idk

105% can also be written as 1.05, this is because 105% is the same as 105/100 which gives 1.05, well in this case u have to unless you put a percentage sign after 105
