Oh god! He's a wonderful "Cantonese" storyteller with precise context and is not boring and candid. Hope he will do more oral narratives of history with his relatives on the life of those well-known personalities, it must be very interesting. Thank you so much.

I agree he IS a true Hong Konger after all.. , he speaks with that sharp HK flair. And of coarse he is extremely knowledgeable about his family history. You can tell he's use to being in front of the camera by the way he holds his smile. He has a nice personality. Thanks Andrew!!!

You may find this info quite cute.. but.. the surname Peel... The Peel group currently owns Manchester Airport. Isn't it odd that.. into another 3-4 generation.. people.. or their descendents still do the same things ?

Very fascinating part of the HK history, thanks for sharing! Mr. Tse brought up something crucial which was the discrimination against Non Caucasians, which still exists to this very day (if not worse!!). When he mentioned that the Eurasians at the time lived like the 3rd class citizens here in HK, their own city, then try to imagine you living in their countries instead?! Unless you are a billionaire 😂

Shouldn't 何甘棠 have his Chinese father's surname rather than following his half brothers? Unless his Chinese father's surname is also Ho of course.
interesting, was your grandfather Tse Tsan Tai (谢缵泰)?

Sorry, can you clarify, what the Tse surname, and the actual chinese surname 谢 have in common ? Especially those of the 谢 surname that are from Australia. Do they have a relative connection ?
@rhrh242 жыл бұрын
@@MeiinUK the 谢/謝 could be spell in Tse in English. The famous Australian I know was Tse Tsan Tai(aka James See). Father of Tse Ka Po and Tse Tsan Tai may be related, as they were both from Kaiping.

I don't really understand, so how come there are Parsis, and Armenians that could enter into HK? Were they actually the slaves of those traders ? I don't understand... I understand why there was the Scots, and then the English, cos by then, I think that England united with Scotland as Great Britain, and when Britain had HK, it was under the "United Kingdom" grouping.... and then part of the Commonwealths too.
@johnha24322 жыл бұрын
As far as I understand from the video 6:00 Mr. Andrew Tse explained Jews and Parsis were traders form India. They were so rich that act like a banker to finance the English to buy opium. 7:00 Regarding Armenians, they were traders from India too. One of the founder of the Hong Kong Land Holdings Limited was Armenians. Therefore, Parsis and Armenians were not slave. When they came to Hong Kong their status as traders.
