+Mark Furneaux is this even in the latest update? I can't find it anywhere. I installed the RRD summary but that doesn't look nearly as useful.

+letsgetsteve I don't know what you mean. RRD graphs have always existed in pfSense and always will. No package installation required.

+Mark Furneaux That's really weird then. I was following along with this video today to set everything to start my new router, inspired by your great videos, and I don't have the RRD graphs in my status drop down menu. hmm. very weird. I will continue to look.

+letsgetsteve They are currently updating the version of RRDTool in the development builds, so it is possible something broke in the last daily snapshot.

+Mark Furneaux Yup, I just read that in the notes. I will just keep an eye out for it and will see when it comes back. I'm looking forward to more of the videos! They are helping a ton but I do have to say, the advice to get PFSense loaded on a machine to start playing with it is the best advice. Need to see what it does to learn it. Keep up the good work!

+letsgetsteve I just looked, and the entry in the Status menu is now called "Monitoring" and is completely different. It looks a bit broken right now, but I definitely will need to make a quick update video once everything is working correctly.

You should do a video on Openvpn configuration, I know there are plenty of them but you'd explain it ton better..

Does anyone know if we are going to get RRD graphs like in this video back in 2.3? It is a single graph that you have to configure for each "Look" really don't like it

The new monitoring graphs kinda suck compared to the RRD graphs. Sure you can dynamically change things but a lot of the time it either fails to render or doesn't display the data you want. Another huge problem is the way the graphs work hides momentary problems.

Hi Mark, excellent job on the informative videos! I was just wondering though, is there a way to set pfsense to connect bridged to the Internet and connect the host computer to the Internet connection pfsense receives? So the Internet will go through pfsense and then you get Internet from the virtual machine? Thanks in advance.
@TheUbuntuGuy8 жыл бұрын
+Ideaz4U2 Of course. Exactly how to do it depends on the VM platform, but you give one physical NIC to the VM (bridged or otherwise) and create a "host only" adapter. The host-only adapter is the LAN in pfSense and the host will get an Internet connection through that.
@Ideaz4U28 жыл бұрын
That's great, is it possible to create 2 LANs, one for host to connect and another for other computers?
@TheUbuntuGuy8 жыл бұрын
+Ideaz4U2 Ya, you would just create another 'bridged' adapter and assign it to another physical NIC on the host which can be connected to a switch and in turn other computers.

Yes, you must set 2 virtual bridge card on pfsense. 2nd bridge (10.0.0.0/24) then set your host machine ip to 10.0.0.x and default gateway to 10.0.0.1 (pfsense ip) look at here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fGGvg6qreN1nrJY

Which version or theme of pfSense do you have? Because yours looks way fancier than mine!

+Max It's just 2.3 beta. The entire UI was rewritten from 2.2->2.3 using Bootstrap.
@Max345578 жыл бұрын
+Mark Furneaux Ah right. Do you recommend using the beta? Or should i just stick to the last stable (2.2.6).
@TheUbuntuGuy8 жыл бұрын
+Max There are still bugs in 2.3 (like the one I found in part 5.1) but all-in-all it isn't unusable. It's probably not a terrible idea to use 2.3 at this point, since you would skip having to migrate your settings from 2.2. For home use it's probably fine, but I wouldn't recommend it for enterprise use just yet, just in case.
