The ground wire that doesn't go anywhere is actually grounded to the machine body through the special grounded DIN connector and the DIN rail mounted to the frame. It is there for the safety of the operator. It is a requirement for our DIN electrical box builds. Tapping into it shouldn't necessarily be a problem but there is a connector right there for you to use. Nice addition for the air compressor. I mount mine under the table that my mini lathe is bolted onto.

Hello friend, Keith from Michigan. I've somehow I missed 😕 the videos session on your Mini Planner. That looked super 👌 nice!! Let's talk about using a compressor and clear out metal chips and some other equipment. I'm against this on Lathe's carriage cross feed. BUT, if used correctly. It's okay on the chuck, you tail stock to clean off drills, taps. Just lower the pressure my friend. Heck, I use air a LOT. Yeah pls always have your eye 👁 🙂 protection. Take care 🙂.

That's a very clever solution to place the compressor in the lathe like that... I know everyone's needs are very different I kinda started to run out of space down low some time ago. As such I try to go up with things that are light/small.. I keep a small shop vac hung close by my machines, and a centralized overhead plug to power it and other things... Plus I stumbled onto an idea from another tuber, I think his channel was/is upstairs machine shop... Anyway he had a ryobi 18v blower he used for chip removal, so I had to try 1...it works really well for some (not all) of the dry swarf.

Hi Rusti, great idea, I too have a oil free compressor and it scares the hell out of me every time it kicks in so I just don't use it! I also am not a fan of using comp air on machines, I have seen first hand the damage this does on some very expensive CNC kit. You will laugh now, I use a bicycle pump for the lathe, it's incredibly quiet, uses no electric, very safe, and you get to keep fit when you use it! Cheers, Jon

Thanks for yet one more really entertaining video! I'm sure You can make videos about just anything and they will be the same entertaining. The designer of the lathe.... Maybe he carried his head under his arm? Luck that the door was not in the bottom of the cabinet.... My kompressor is bigger! Has a 10 liter tank and reaches 8 kg/cm2. Seldomly used... Motor from USSR.... The mother of my children bought a wall clock and the machinery was from USSR. Normal clocks sounds like tick, tack. The USSR machinery sounded like TIICK, TAACK and could be heard all over the house... I changed the machinery to a modern, Braunschweig listening and synchronizing version so I could sleep.... French gearbox? What a bastard lathe... Built from a junk yard expedition? Never mind as long as it turns well. Too much junk around? Compared to me You are a novice, a beginner! Here is the mechanics shop, the electronics shop and a large railroad, all surrounded be "useful things"... Mini shaper powering...... You bastard..... Illusionist!
