How’d you do? Any recommendations? I take mine in a month.
@jfisher1648 ай бұрын
@@scottmcleod1470 I passed with a 743. Probably the hardest test I’ve ever taken honestly. My suggestion is to really understand the concepts, the questions are so vague that memorization won’t really help you. Obviously know your ports but go through the objectives and make sure you understand how they work. I’d also recommend YouTubing PBQs, or finding a way to do labs for any objective that says “given a scenario.” I had five PBQs and luckily I had done what I said so I was able to knock those out, blast through the multiple choice and make sure you have 30-45 min for PBQs man, they take some time. I honestly am still in shock I passed, between the vague questions and the PBQs, I was sweating bullets until the clock ran out. I only gave myself two weeks after A+ though so with a month for you, just study your ass off and then study some more. You’ll breeze through it! Good luck!

for Q37), DDoS is the actual attack that is happening, but the question specifically asked which vector represents "a large number of devices". These devices collectively are the Botnet. The Botnet (vector) is used to carry out the DDoS.
@jbrone12417 ай бұрын
I was literally about to write the same thing. I hate questions like that where you don't know what there asking for.
@ZacksWolfDBZ4 ай бұрын
well, an attack vector is a way for an attacker to break into a network, so using things like: Bugs, backdoor access, exploits and known vulnerabilities in software, social engineering tactics that allow people to get onto the premise or learn people login credentials in order to escalate their privilege's in the network to gain root access. these are attack vectors. A botnet doesn't necessarily enter a network nor does it take advantage of any exploits within the network to take it down, rather it just causes the network to shut down through sheer brute force of internet traffic. i really hate intentionally misleading questions like these. the Security+ exam is full of them...

@@40wattstudio41congrats! What do you suggest one should touch up on before taking it?
@40wattstudio419 ай бұрын
@@windthugness Definitely be prepared for some Performance Based Questions -- I got like 5 of them and they were all brutal. Access Control Lists, etc. Save those for LAST or you will run out of time to answer the questions. As for the questions, know your acronyms and OSI layers, but also take any practice tests you can find online. Know how to differentiate between similar concepts like piggybacking and tailgating. I studied with the Mike Meyers textbook which always has a good overview. This time I also used Boson, which came with practice tests (useful) and labs (great for the real-world, but utterly useless for preparing me for the PBQs). I'm studying for Security+ now and from what I've seen, CertMaster Learn comes the closest to simulating the PBQ's you'll see on the test. TestOut might also be a good choice for that.
