I have both CEH and PenTest+ certifications, including many more, and I can say, I recommend to my students (I'm a professor) I think the PenTest+ is the way to go.

Why do you think that

Thanks Greg. I was looking at both, but feel the Pentest+ seems like a better path and also more economical.

@@bmalin CEH sounds cool but paying that much is stupid. Doesn't make sense.
@bmalin Жыл бұрын
@@krisg900 I agree 1000000%. The only thing that I thought was beneficial was if you do pay 3k for eh council on demand unlimited, you get 4 attempts at the test included in the price. But yeah, after I get sec+ either gonna go pentest+ or cysa.
@krisg900 Жыл бұрын
@@bmalin yup. I'm doing Pentest+ because I want to get into Pentesting. But I think Pentest+ does the job. It's just a newer cert. CEH has had a longer history but Pentest+ will catch up. I think 3k is irresponsible. My route sec+, Pentest+ then oscp. Oscp is the real one. Once you get that you're good.

Hopefully, after I become Certified in the core three(A+, Sec+, and Net), I look forward to studying to obtain The Pen+ Cert!😁

I did have another question any recommendations on how to find a mentor in cybersecurity?

Cybrary offers mentoring. Station X and InfoSec offer guidance.

@@comptiaexplore thank you! I'm currenlty working on my A+, but I am looking down the road at Pentest and CEH just not sure which path i want to go or if I should go both. I will be transiting out of Navy here in next couple of years so I'm finishing up my degree and working on certs.

Hi, whats the requirement to be a CompTIA pentest+ certified ?
@mrri84034 жыл бұрын
Ronald Apaliboka none but i suggest you clear the net+ and the sec+ first , if you don’t have knowledge in those areas. The ceh is a lot more broader in the domains it covers and you also learn about tons of different tools for ethical hacking as appose to scripting your own tools in python ,which is a lot more convenient that way. I say go for the compita pentest because it’s a lot cheaper and the ceh requires at least two years of experience as a security specialist and it cost $1500 for course materials. then after just do a lot more learning on your own with Udemy and books such as ric messier and Matt walker , I also suggest cybrary for cheap learning resource to continue your education ,and they also have labs for hands on practice , best of luck!
