Q44 the way it's worded makes it seem like a physical access problem. Which caused me to pick cable lock. Should change wording to something like "what prevents a system from the threat of a user exfiltrating data with removable media"
@mikealpha23 күн бұрын
You are absolutely right. The question is badly worded and confusing giving the impression of a physical access control issue. Thank You for watching 🙂

Why is the answer for question 82 patch management, isn't a zero day attack defined as a vulnerability with no patch available, and if so would not mitigate this risk at all?
@jonahcrandall35053 ай бұрын
It's an "of the following" question. You are correct in that a zero-day vulnerability is a vulnerability that comes about because of something that wasn't detected (usually before launch) with no patch available (Stuxnet being an example of a ZDV.) However, the mitigation and remediation OF a Zero Day vulnerability is to have patch management, or simply "Put out a patch that protects against the vulnerability" (which is why when you get home from buying a brand new video game on the release day, there's going to be some kind of update before you play it, to defend against those.) The other options listed, Network Segmentation, Intrusion Prevention System, and multiple Vulnerability Scanners are really good ways to mitigate vulnerabilities in general. However, they're not going to do much in preventing a Zero Day vulnerability. Network Segmentation is going to make sure everything isn't in one location. An IPS is going to stop the bad guys from getting in (if properly configured and the bad guys don't outsmart it). Vulnerability Scanners will help you find doors and things that can be exploited. However, none of those really help with a Zero Day. Network Segmentation and IPS are going to make sure an attacker has a hard time getting in and getting what they want, which is great, but not relevant to a ZDV. Vulnerability Scanners are an excellent tool, but if a ZDV is being exploited, then it's reasonable to assume that vulnerability scanners were run, and gave an all-clear. It's a bit wordy, but I hope this helps explain it a little bit more :)

Question 47: why would data masking not be the answer?
@mikealphaАй бұрын
Thank You Gary for watching the video. The answer to your question is below.. When data is masked, it can be linked back to the original data while anonymization is an irreversible process and data can't be linked back to original data. Since the original data is highly sensitive PII data, anonymization is the safe option making sure that data can be used without any chance of linking it back to the original data. I hope it clears up the confusion.

Q17, I thought Control Plane was associated with Secured zones, while Data plane was on the subject/system role ?
@mikealpha2 ай бұрын
The Control Plane, Data Plane, Secured Zones, and Subject Roles are interconnected in a Zero Trust framework. *Subject Role:* A subject (e.g., a user) requests access to a resource within a Secured Zone. *Control Plane:* The Control Plane evaluates the subject's role and verifies its identity and device health. *Decision:* Based on the evaluation, the Control Plane decides whether to grant or deny access. *Data Plane:* If access is granted, the Data Plane provides a secure channel for the subject to communicate with the resource within the Secured Zone.
