I’ve had the same twice at Liverpool where I was rejoining at Chester and Oulton Park and had traffic exiting the zone. Not nice and don’t understand why they allow it. Also, how did that aircraft ever get into the circuit with no radio???? Madness!!!! Great video

I had an airprox (which I reported) at Oulton Park a few years back; with EGGP, Low Level Corridor and Ashcroft traffic, it's a busy place!

Enjoyed the video, thank you. At a glance, you may want to check your nose wheel pressure. Fly safe!

This video is from a few years ago; we’ve since sold the aircraft!

I 'cut somebody up' a couple of month's back in the circuit who was on a solo cross country but was greater than 4 miles out on a straight in final to a very short runway with little by way of radio calls apart from protesting I'd gone in front. While we (my instructor and I - we were flying in my Gyro) apologised to the pilot in person after the event neither of us saw him and we called number 2 to land downwind behind another aircraft with no call from him or direction from the tower (an FISO service who could have called for position checks). I felt his airmanship to be very poor with a lack of comms with regard to his position and if I was in the tower would not have signed his XC form as 'Satisfactory". People on the ground said he was miles behind us and we could have landed and taxied off or done a touch and go before he was short final, I do worry about this as judgement on separation and near misses in the circuit are at the most dangerous and critical point especially with pilots workload potentially diminishing their spacial awareness. For clarity and separation we went around on hearing from him and made an uneventful landing but with hindsight and feedback from the ground one that was not needed or warranted. Compton is a lovely airfield Stu - one I've not visited but on my bucket list. But listening to the RT and ATC one that appears in need of upgrading to at least a FISO service during busy periods so more can be said without incurring legal responsibility for any incidents and many pilots not realising its only an A/G radio which is really quite poor on their behalf.

Thank you Jason. 4 mile final is indeed poor airmanship with any traffic in the circuit. Sounds like you made the right call and the FISO could have done more to assist. Compton Abbas is a lovely airfield in a beautiful location; I agree that, certainly at weekends, an upgrade to FISO is required.

Why dont you try something larger from Ashcroft?
@StuWithAView6 жыл бұрын
Because I only own one gyrocopter, and my 182 is too heavy for Ashcroft 😊

or is it because of the airfields operators? The website is rather peculiar!
