I find it funny the old men back then tried to fight piracy and they are still doing it today.

software is cheaper because today there are 10.000x more computer users than back then. And the tools used to make software are much more efficient.

0:17 it's the Pirate Bay, in paper catalog form!

Piracy in that era was actually far less of a problem as you often needed the documentation to use the product and owning a lot of business software resulted in needing a hefty bookshelf to hold all of the manuals. Once manuals and etc were all on the pirated media, and support was either pay per incident or not there at all, why spend 500 dollars on software for the same level of support free provided.

The knob lawyer contradicted himself 6:43 saying "If everyone paid a small amount the price would lower". But earlier said the price is high because people pirate. YES, hence the reason if the price was lower, people would pay that small amount. Oh and are people that give books away or lend them to friends are they pirates?

What amazes me is that binary newsgroups still exist with the pirated software often stored on and distributed from the ISP's very own servers and nobody says boo. I guess its so "old school" now its small potatoes.

however, the old men today are the young men from back then... so MAYBE as you get older, you understand the actual economic and moral issues relating to piracy (not talking about making personal backups of course)
@bugatti107511 жыл бұрын
Well if that where true then my grand parents should be all for anti piracy movement. Just remember if these old men get their way the mp3 would be banned, vcr would be banned and they also want to ban personal backups as well.
