Great video! I'd like to add (after 15 years in this field) that depending on what you do in computer science, self-teaching is often way more important than the degree itself, as this field requires that you're constantly up-to-date with its crazy evolving pace and Universities just can't keep up. The most important thing is to be curious, curious and curious to always learn new notions and to apply those to your job.

Let me note that "Computer Graphics" programming doesn't only involve images. There's been some work on writing GPGPU software, i.e. CUDA/OpenCL, that accelerates system processes that are traditionally given to CPUs. In particular, anything that can benefit from parallel computing will need GPU software.

Here’s a summary of the video 1. **Introduction to Computer Science Careers (**00:01**)** The video focuses on various computer science careers and subfields, including software development, network systems, and more. 2. **Software Developer Role (**00:29**)** A software developer writes code for applications like banking software, mobile apps, and video games. It's one of the largest and fastest-growing job fields with over a million jobs. 3. **Computer Systems Analyst (**01:52**)** This role involves evaluating and optimizing large computer systems for businesses, without direct involvement in writing code. It requires understanding hardware and software systems. 4. **Network Systems Administrator (**02:48**)** Network administrators monitor and maintain computer networks, including tasks like installing firewalls, troubleshooting network issues, and ensuring smooth access. 5. **Database Administrator (**03:17**)** Database administrators ensure the security, optimization, and maintenance of databases, protecting sensitive data and handling system bugs and breaches. 6. **Web Developer (**03:46**)** Web developers specialize in developing websites, focusing on either front-end (what users see) or back-end (server-side processes like credit card processing). 7. **Security Analyst (**05:10**)** Security analysts protect organizations from cyber threats, handling tasks like setting up firewalls and testing systems for vulnerabilities, especially in finance and banking. 8. **Specialized Fields in Computer Science (**05:37**)** The video also covers specialized areas like artificial intelligence, cryptography, and bioinformatics, each offering unique career opportunities and requiring specific skills. 9. **Cryptography and Cybersecurity (**06:05**)** Cryptography focuses on data encryption, while cybersecurity is about protecting against cyberattacks. Both fields are crucial in industries like banking and government. 10. **Computer Graphics and Bioinformatics (**08:32**)** Careers in computer graphics involve image processing and special effects for media. Bioinformatics combines biology and computing to analyze genetic data, offering career opportunities in health and research. 11. **Diverse Career Paths and Flexibility (**11:25**)** Computer science careers are broad, with roles ranging from software development to security and AI research. Many roles do not require a strict computer science degree, and job titles vary widely. 12. **Conclusion and Career Advice (**12:23**)** Computer science majors often start in software engineering roles but can evolve into diverse positions. A degree isn’t always required, and non-degree paths like boot camps and self-learning can also lead to success.

Best part is that you don't actually need any college for some of these. You can be self taught. Job requirements are usually more of a wish list than actual requirements. If you have the skills, apply anyways. Employers care more about your skills than your qualifications in several tech careers.

Glad you enjoyed it! And you are probably hearing different answers because a lot of schools differ. Python is known as the easiest programming language to start with which I typically recommend to people. At my school the first programming language taught was C, and other people will say something else. HTML and CSS aren't what I would start with cause those are for making websites and they are more for the layout, not even the backend stuff. As a freshmen you just want to start with classes that introduce you to programming. Then once you learn one language it is so much easier to learn another. Like I said, Python is a great place to start and if there is a class on the basics of it then start there. But I started with C as my first programming language and Java was the next class.
